I don't know what fact could be more telling than that they didn't punt until the third quarter, and it has already been stated.

So the D folded in the first quarter because the offense couldn't get it going on the opening drive?

I thought it wasn't until the 4th quarter.

Hence the word constantly. The game is 4 quarters. I also never said they folded. I simply pointed out that over the course of an entire game, the D cannot withstand having to be out there all the time.

Again... the D barely slowed them down all night. How is that the offense's fault?

Thank you.
For those who are 110% sold on this coach, listen to what he said: Outcoached and outplayed. Period.
It was total team fail last night and frankly it didn't totally shock me. A number of those vaunted 11 wins this year felt like flukes. Leaving the stadium after that Missouri game I was looking around nervously like a shoplifter leaving a store with a stolen victory stuffed under my shirt. I appreciated the wins but this never felt like a championship-caliber team to me. Smoke and mirrors.
Yes, the defense came up big in the second half a lot, especially in the 4th quarter. But umm...why was it necessary for them to come up big in the 4th quarter so often? "Comeback teams" can be fun to watch but they rarely win championships. Those usually go to 4-quarter domination teams.
It's funny to look at some of the threads with people who seem to be trying to avoid facing the big picture. Worried about players celebrating too much after big plays when the team is losing? There's a thread for that. Didn't like the uniforms? There's a thread for that. The sideline infraction penalty? Thread for that. Kent Taylor (who? lol) burned his redshirt? Sure.
The big picture isn't pretty. The team played really, really poorly and as bad as their execution was, the gameplan they were supposed to be executing was even worse. All things considered in retrospect, I'm about as pumped about this 11-win season as I was about that win over Missouri. What should feel encouraging (after a 7-6 season) does not feel encouraging.

Do sportsfans love to over-analyze?
Coach said it...We were outcoached & outplayed.
Still love what we got...
There are only 2 guys on this team who should even think about going NFL early...Elam & Floyd
And there's a decent argument for both of them to stay....

Analyzing/over analyzing gives a perceived sense of control over something we all care about but in reality have zero control over.

We got out schemed and out played. Happens often when your key players are looking ahead at the prospects of NFL etc. It must be a challenge to focus. Last night for the first time all season out defense did not play well. The two big turnovers didn't help but we overcome those this year. Not our night on defense. They were sharp and motivated for the challenge. Give coach Strong credit. They kicked our lunch.

Except early, when the D was still fresh, there weren't many 3 and outs. OTH we didn't see Louisville's punter until the game was over.

The offense played poorly, the defense played poorly. End of story. Exactly why that was we don't know. My guess is that two factors not present in most of our games this year contributed to it. One, we thought we could win by tossing our helmets on the field because we were playing a mediocre Big East team. And two, some of our defenders were thinking more about the NFL draft and their future careers than they were about this game.

The Gator Defense play a poor game starting with their first series of plays. L'ville looked more than ready to play. Their execution was very good, their game plan perfect (good job of scouting our D), their receivers were open all night, their QB avoid the rush very well, when they got the space to run they out manned us,
I wish I could say something good about the Gator Offense but I can't. The O line did not block with any intensity like they did against FSU.
The QB play was awful. The commentator (Spliemen?) had it right about Driscole when it came to passing. When it came to passing he was in slow motion mentally and physically.
The play at the LOS for both the Gator D and O was a very sad sight to see. The L'ville QB had way too much time, especially on 3rd downs. The Gator O QB and backs had little to no room. There were a few moments of good play but it was not consistent.
Please note that this was a Charlie Strong Defense. We really got a good taste of our own medicine. I like Muschamp but I wonder how much consideration Charlie got two years ago when Meyer officially left.
I have a feeling that our guys watched the FSU and Northern Illinois game and decide to sleep walk this game. L'ville came out to play like we did for the Ohio State game in 2006.

Calm down man...calm down. Muschamp is on the right track. He just needs a QB and a pass rush. We will have a stack of stud RBs next year and if we are lucky, a couple of stud WRs. Future looks bright.
