Bostic Hit Vicious..NOT a Penalty!
Watched it in slow motion. Officials set the tone for the game with that garbage. Was a beautiful hit.

Ironically, elam's hit a little later on the receiver that almost caught the ball with his knees was all helmet. No call. Bostic's hit was awesome and not a penalty

Exactly...the refs don't understand human anatomy..your head is a very movable part of your body...therefore when someone gets hit IN THE CHEST, it is very probable your neck/head will snap back...causing a whiplash effect, just like in a car accident...for some reason this concept is hard to grasp for the zebras..it does not make it a helmet to helmet hit!!!

I wondered at the time, and still do, if there would've been a flag if Bridgewater's helmet hadn't come flying off. The initial contact looked to be in the upper chest area.
With as many times as UL's helmets came off, they need to rethink their chinstrap provider.

It was a perfect hit. Awful call. Ultimately it didn't matter though. Guys got their asses handed to them.

Couldn't get Spielman to shut up about it either. "It's stupid to do what he just did."

It was a great football play and later when they were doing a recap one of the ESPN announcers called it a dirty hit. Unreal. That was a great play and really gave UL the momentum to tack on another score and start the rout.
Refs were horrible tonight. No holding calls on UL when they were tackling our guys up front. A clear motion that wasn't called on an important 3rd and 1, a 30 yard penalty on top of a penalty which I've never ever seen, then a white chalk penalty. B10 refs couldn't wait to stick it to us.

I remember hearing the announcers talk about that. But how was Elam supposed to hit that guy?

Yeah exactly. The whole helmet to helmet thing has gotten out of control. During a tackle, both players are wearing helmets. They are going to have some contact with each other from time to time throughout the course of the game. Unless you are only calling the penalty when a player maliciously launches or spears, Im not sure what you are expecting the defender to do exactly. They always say lead with your shoulder - well thats what it looks like Bostic did to me. Any helmet contact was incidental.

It's funny Bostic's " helmet to helmet " hit was called for a penalty.... When Elam's actual " helmet to helmet " hit on the wide receiver was not... Lol I still swear till this day since I was little I have seen refs hating Florida more and more every year...

It was and should have been called. Take off the glasses. In today's game that is a penalty. After the qb releases the ball the defender must pull up. Bostic ran right through him with some forearm shiv to boot. Dumb play.
I will agree that it was a beautiful hit, but in today's game completely illegal.
My question is why Bridgewater was in on the next play?
