Oysters in Tampa
Any Pubsters know of any good places for oysters in or around Tampa?

Sadly, no. Pathetic that we have no good seafood restaurants to speak of or a true oyster bar.
Downtown St Pete has Central Ave Oyster.

I will say I still miss DJ's Oyster Bar at the corner of Gandy and Dale Mabry.

Lombardis in Winter Park is awesome but I do not know if Tampa has one. During the "R" months we go there about once a month. You can eat in or take out so we just go there and take home a half bushel for only $25. They also supply a lot of the restaurants in the area. I have heard good things about Skipper's Smokehouse & Oyster Bar from a few people if they are still there.

Was it all the scenes of New Orleans leading up to the bowl game that sparked the desire for oysters? Because it did for me.

This thread has me craving oysters. And I am on a train to DC so can't hit up my go-to oyster place in NYC.

Where will you be in DC? I am sure you can find good oysters there as well. I used to go to Raw Bar night at a bar there almost every Tuesday. But its in the burbs and not a Tuesday.

Personally, I think the food at Skippers is quite subpar.
Ennis, Boca on Platt isn't an oyster bar, per se, but they do have them or they used to, at least. I believe Carmine's in Ybor does as well. Ciro's may have them, too. How about the Shipwreck Lounge at The Colonnade?
IC Sharks is a very solid seafood market you can purchase by the bushel.
True oyster bar is Central Ave Oyster Bar, though.

Going to Winter Park later in the month so I'll have to check it out, thank you!

Can't believe I didn't think of the Colonnade! That's literally two minutes away from me, thank you.

They pour a stiff one in The Shipwreck Lounge. Not quite as stiff as The Hub but pretty stout just the same.
Best grouper sandwich in Tampa IMO.

I always loved raw oysters, but I can't have them now. I have an immune suppressed medication that I take for rheumatoid arthritis. They do not recommend eating them raw when on this medication.
