You are dense...
That's the Senate bill that was sent to the house...
The House GOP responded with 2 smaller bills pulling out the "pork"....
(1 bill for $27B & 1 bill for $33B)
http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/02/politi...andy-aid-vote/
House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers, R-Kentucky, said some aid will be approved in the next Congress.
"FEMA has plenty of money, there's no immediate needs," he said, referring to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"FEMA has enough money to last until at least late February-March anyway."
King, in the CNN interview, said Rogers "doesn't know what he's talking about."
"Leadership was all-consumed with the cliff procedure," Rogers told reporters off the House floor late Tuesday. "And they really have not had the time to devote to this because of that."
Up until Tuesday night, GOP leaders were working toward a plan of splitting up the vote into two measures -- one providing $27 billion for immediate needs, and another amendment offering $33 billion for longer-term recovery efforts.
Rogers said he was ready to move his scaled-back bill, but did not give a timetable for the vote in the next Congress.

Oh BTW - Mike Grimm (R-Staten Island, NY) just blamed Boehner directly and said his only job right now is to speak with Boehner to bring this to a vote immediately...
GOP dysfuction at its finest...

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/0...661.html?hp=f2
House Republicans abruptly pulled the plug Tuesday night on their promise to take up this week an emergency supplemental disaster aid bill for Northeast states damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
The decision is a stunning reversal since just hours before New Jersey lawmakers were preparing for floor debate Wednesday as outlined under a strategy promoted by no less than Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.).
Indeed the Appropriations Committee had gone so far as to file a $27 billion bill Tuesday together with an amendment to be offered by Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.) seeking an additional $33 billion to match the Senate passed package of last week.
Absent a change of heart, the upshot now is that the Senate bill will die with this Congress on Thursday at noon. And the whole affair is sure to bring back memories of the famous Daily News headline in 1975—“Ford to City: Drop Dead.”
“I am stunned, stunned,” Rep. Rob Andrews (D-N.J.) told POLITICO. “I assume there is as tactical consideration here, that the Republican leadership didn’t want to be anywhere near a big spending bill after the fiasco of their handling the tax debate. I understand the tactics but there is a real human need here that is being ignored

Uh, I produced the bill that was sent to the House. Just take defeat like a man 996
To think they are not going to vote or pass a bill because it's disaster restoration for a couple of blue states is silly. They know how bad people have been hit here, but at the same time they need to do their job and not vote for a bunch of pork.

And that's what you don't understand....
Everything I linked (and the the purpose of the thread) is not about the Senate bill its about the House's inability to draft a bill and bring it to a vote.
I can't believe you need more than schoolhouse rock but here's another chance for you to understand that what you're posting about has little relelvance in this discussion.
This is how a bill becomes a law....
http://www.coons.senate.gov/learn/bills/
"8. The bill now moves onto a conference committee, which is made up of members from each House. The committee works out any differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill. The revised bill is sent back to both houses for their final approval. Once approved, the bill is printed by the Government Printing Office (GPO) in a process called enrolling. The clerk from the introducing house certifies the final version."
You see??
You can't go forward because Boehner can get the GOP to vote on anything and agree...
If you can't see this basic legislative process is breaking down because of the House GOP then i can't help you any further.

Tell that to the republicans like Christie, King, etc. they have directly accused Boehner of that very thing...regionalism
This isn't coming from Democrats...the charge is coming from your own people.

First you claim there was no pork in the bill, then I produce the very bill (HR 1) that was sent to the House that has the pork and then you want to change the argument.

The pork you and others were speaking about isn't in the bill from the news article....
They took it out.

Maybe he actually wanted to read the bill unlike the Senate with regard to the cliff bill (3 minutes for 150 plus pages). If Congress doesn't read Intelligence reports or healthcare bills, why would they read this one to help those rich people on the Jersey shore?

Wow. You've got a lot of nerve calling people dense. What exactly is it that you are supposedly so upset with the House Republicans about? They were supposed to vote on the aid bill on Tuesday but because they were busy negotiating the fiscal cliff deal until all hours of the night, they delayed the vote on the first portion of a relief package until Friday. So a delay of three days, for aid for a storm that happened over two months ago. Spare us the faux outrage.

Don't look now buddy but the bill in the news article YOU LINKED in the OP was for $60 billion. That's $60b, not $60m. Keep calling people "dense."

Reuters, this afternoon:
Quote:
The Republican-controlled House of Representatives will now vote on Friday on a $9 billion down payment for storm-related aid to the National Flood Insurance program.
Boehner also assured New York and New Jersey lawmakers that the House will take a second vote on January 15 on the $51 billion remainder of the Sandy package.
"This procedure that was laid out is fully acceptable and fully satisfactory. It provides the full $60 billion that we require," said Representative Peter King, a high-ranking House Republican from Long Island, New York.
|
The Representative from Long Island is happy so I guess everyone else should be, too. Including the owners of fisheries in Alaska and the Gulf Coast, and the contractors who will be re-roofing the Smithsonian, and whoever gets the, "$10,000,000 to repair and improve weather forecasting capabilities and infrastructure." (Did any lack of forecasting capabilities factor into the storm damage? I seem to recall plenty of advance notice that it was coming.) Presumably all that stuff is back in the bill since Peter King says it's now back up to the original, Senate-approved amount of $60 billion again.

I put the bill right under his nose and even told him what page to go to in order to see the pork, and he calls me dense. You can bring a horse to the well but you can't make him drink.

Yeah, apparently the reading comprehension and math skills are not strong with that one.

Your pork bill no longer exists.

Right...read the story, and see that the House did indeed cut the Senate's $60 billion bill into two smaller bills: one for $27 billion and another for $33 billion. Now I'll admit that math is not my strong suit either but umm......
