Gator Z just asked a question, seen a few of your posts, that were not great but did not bash you over them. Something to talk about, nothing more.
No problem with the question its a good conversation piece. Just wonder why people keep making threads like 'Fowler" instead of " Is Fowler the next Clowney? " or something along those lines, it is not a big deal.
Not close but Fowler will be a real productive player. What is up with people making terrible titles? Here is Clowney in high school.
I didn't see his highlights before, but man, that dude was crazy back then. I have never seen opposing QBs and RBs coughing up the ball for fear of a player before, just so that they wouldn't get hit like what happened a few times at the beginning of the video. Dude is a freak of nature. Can we petition the NFL to let him be a number one pick this year??
Clowney separated himself from everyone else in that one play alone yesterday. Besides he was showing it in his freshman year as well. He came into college ready for the NFL. There just aren't many you can say that about.
You sir speak the truth. Clowney was manhandling OLinemen in high school like ragdolls. In his freshmen year he was running by senior linemen as if they were rookies. Kid was born to dominate.

That high school highlight reel is comical. I feel like I am watching a Harold Lloyd film. He was not a man among boys as some suggested earlier in this thread. He was a man among fetuses. That film is ridiculous. It is the most dominating high school film I have ever seen. Good lord!

We need a course on how to come up with a meaningful title.

I too prefer the writing of a good headline. However, my computer allows the "hover to discover" function. If I hover over the thread title with my cursor, it allows me to view the first few sentences of the original post without clicking into the post. And thus is a fine tool to conclude whether I should offically click into the thread.

The South Carolina game worries me more than any other game next year just because of Clowney. They should let him enter the draft.
First player in a long time that could have honestly jumped from HS to starting in the NFL- just so big and filled out physically at 18. Let's just say I'm really, really happy that we got so many easy scores against USCe, I wouldn't have wanted to see us try and drive the field late in the 4th against him.
It seems to me that we just can't enjoy people for who they are (ours or theirs) and instead want instant results. For the vast, vast, vast majority of players going from one level to the next the best you can say is that they can be a contributor, not All-World. RoPo fits that description to a tea.
What I want is someone who is prepared to be taught the game at the next level and has the body attributes to grow into the position. If we keep looking for the next Clowney we miss all of those players who weren't as physically mature as early as others. But both Fowler and Bullard had freshman seasons that anyone can be proud of and the future looks bright (although not guaranteed).
And if I could, I would give Clowney an honorary third year of college experience just to get him out of the SECe for the coming year.
I, for one, am very happy we got Fowler. It looked like he was FSU all the way until signing day and he pulled the trigger for us. I know he's had a bigger impact for us than the two other DLineman ranked ahead of him in the FSU class. We got a gem, and I love it.
His iron triangle (speed, strength, weight) numbers must be absurd.
If I remember right, his forty time was not absurd, somewhere between 4.6 and 4.7, but he has a ridiculous ten yard burst and great football speed. Powell and Fowler were faster against a stop watch, both under 4.6. The trick will be to get both of them on the field as much as possible and often at the same time. That might mean putting Fowler on the strong side or moving Powell back to Sam. Bullard has to be on the field too. He could easily move inside.
Sucks that Clowney wasted (national title/true contender wise) his time in college. He could have gone to a team that could actually contend for a Natty.

Shoot, I don't know. With consecutive 11-win seasons and being in the SEC, I would say he wasn't too far from doing it. If they would have lost just one less game each of the last two years, that means they would have won a national title - right?
Clowney is one of those players that don't come around very often. That being said, I believe Fowler will be a great player in his own right. No need for comparison.
Ps. I think he's very capable of getting those numbers.
Folwer will be a great, great players for us the next couple of years, so just sit back and enjoy having him in the O&B. Clowney is one of those athletic "freaks" sort of like Jevon Kearse was, and players like him only come along once in a while.
I have a feeling that Fowler (and Bullard), could very well contend for our single-season sack record in the next couple of years though, they;re both that good IMO.

USC was never going to a National Championship game. Lets be honest. I'm not saying USC hurt him in any way whatsoever, just saying he could be playing on a team with a legit chance to be a National Champion.

I'm not sure I can agree with that. They had arguably the best running back in college football and the best defensive player in college football on the same team this year. And a coach who has proven he can win at the highest level.
They were 11-2 last year and this year. Lost to Auburn by three two years ago. Could have beaten LSU this year. If they win either of those games, they go to the SEC championship game. And of course the SEC champ always plays for the national title. So I would say he came pretty durn close.
Umm, Auburn wasn't even a top 25 team last year. USC has been fortunate to play a fairly easy schedule the last two years with their only losses coming against teams that are actually good/elite. The only team they beat this year that was really good was Georgia and that game was kinda a fluke. Also, last year they didn't play LSU or Alabama
