I really won't be disappointed if Clark ends up in this class. He can really make things happen, has blazing speed, and you can never have too much of that. I don't know why so many Gators believe we only need big, physical targets at the WR position. Clark would give us a real threat as a returner, and I think he'd fit in nicely working out of the slot.
I'd hate to see him end up somewhere else in the SEC.

Interesting and perhaps astute point, Strange.
Florida has never been able to complete with Duke from an Academic Reputation perspective, and the curiously named "Northwestern," although not really in Duke's league reputation wise, also has a relatively good reputation (What in America is Northwestern about Evanston Illinois, although, perhaps, in 1851, when it was founded, it was a bit to the North and West of Washington, D.C.).
All of these Institution-wide Reputation Things are, of course, on the very face of them, almost completely absurd, for the simple reason that, from an Academic Perspective, there is absolutely no such thing as a University, but rather a relatively large number of independent and individual programs, which, at every university, range from the Very Good to the Very Bad. All one needs to do is look at either the Academic Analytics or National Research Council ratings of programs within institutions to see the truth of this statement. Both of those are biased, of course, as are all ratings, but they are far and away the most well designed and thought out of any you can find for Academia.

So James Clark schedule is looking like Nebraska - 1/11, Texas - 1/18 and Rutgers - 1/25
He will also attend some of Nebraska's bowl practice.
Now I know this is where people ask why haven't we offered?
I think its pretty clear the staff still believes they have a chance with D Rob. Florida is a championship caliber team next year and D rob has the potential to have a huge impact on the offense. It is worth the risk of losing Clark to continue to purse D Rob IMO others might feel differently.

Agree with the latter part. We are definitely still in play for D Rob.

If we didn't already have four receiver commits, including a top-notch guy in Fulwood, you probably don't take the risk of losing Clark. But since we do have four guys at that position, you can afford to take the home run swing at Robinson and risk striking out completely.

The coaches may be considering this also so if they are showing signs of wanting Clark today, it is because they know Robinson id a no-go.

I have no prob with continuing to pursue Robinson, but Clark is such a potantial weapon not only at WR but in the backfield and on special teams returns, he reminds me so much of Quez Green it's scary. I would rather we go after a more versatile weapon like him, but that's just me.

I agree. I understand that the staff wants to start putting bigger players on the field at WR, but we don't have anybody who can do the things Clark can, currently on scholarship, with the ball in his hands. Not at WR, anyway. In fact, we really haven't had that kind of pop at the position for three years. Patton seems to have found his niche on reverses, jet sweeps and such, but he wasn't much of a factor in the passing game.
Rivals ranks this kid as the #92 player in the state of Florida? I find it hard to believe that 91 players from the state of Florida are better than he is. Clark's film is unreal.

Really? What is Duke's league, reputation-wise? Did someone from Northwestern give you a wedgie or beat you out for a job you wanted?
Northwestern, by any measure, is in Duke's league, academic-wise. Duke may be rated higher, but it isn't by much.
And, quick - how many universities were to the northwest of Evanston, IL in 1851? How many states were northwest of Evanston in 1851? Wow.
You know what is REALLY strange? That the University of SOUTH FLORIDA is in Tampa.

Toured 15 college campuses over the last two years. Northwestern was hands down the most impressive campus and gave the most impressive presentation and tour. Broke my heart when my daughter wasn't admitted. Duke was never on our radar.

My son got admitted to Duke but was turned off by the feel of the campus. He liked UNC more than Duke, but loved Bama. In his 2nd year at Bama and it was the right choice.

Yes, it was Greg Mattison who insisted on giving Brandon James a scholarship. Glad he did.

Son and daughter have a classmate at Bama, one of their valedictorians, which I thought as strange coming all the way from Chicago. Turns out both her parent are alum. Daughter saw her two nights ago. Said it was a very difficult transition going to such a southern school, but is finally accustomed to southern hospitality. People were so friendly and polite, it totally unnerved her.
Another classmate is on a track ship to Duke. He's miserable. Let's just say that he was not a valedictorian, or even close to one. A 3.5, a 28 and a seven foot high jump will get you into Duke, but they won't make it easy to stay there.
15 kids out of a class of about 900 went to eight southern schools. Seven went separate ways (none to UF) and eight went to Tulane. 10 from last year's class went there. Six or seven kids from their grade school back in St. Louis went to Tulane as well. What's with that place? Sure isn't sports.

The kid is gonna be special.
If I had a team, I would offer too.
But I hope UF does . . . and gets the other guy too.

I agree. It doesn't matter that we have Thompson as a burner guy. He would be ahead of Thompson on the depth chart from day 1 and could make a big impact with the return game. It just depends on how confident we are with the 2014 guys Artavis Scott and Trevion Thompson

Florida cant give out spots it doesnt have 85 man roster. I like some other WR's better than Scott in 2014.

I know... But if a spot doesn't get filled with an expected target...
