While I hate the media fawning over ND every year, I think there is a fair amount of jealousy over the media power they have.
They graduate more kids than anyone, rarely do they have any sort of scandal or run in with the law (although the tower death was tragic) and the kids generally play hard week in and week out.
I don't like them at all, but at least try to be objective about it. They do more that is good for college football than most other teams, including many if not most in the conference we root for each week.

100% agree with everything you said, that being said I can't see this how this thing is even remotely close unless Bama has the kinda game we had against UGA.

I'd just like to see a good game. If pressed I guess I'd like to see an SEC team win but it's more important to me just to have a good NC game to watch than it is to see either team win. I'd much rather see ND win say 27-26 than see Alabama win by 50. Actually I wouldn't see Alabama win by 50, I'd have turned the game off long before it got to that point.

Seeing a good game irrespective of the winner gives me a day of happiness. Seeing an SEC team win, no matter how ugly, makes everyone around me in Los Angeles angry, thus gives me a year of happiness. SEC! Bama should piss everyone off a lot by beating ND 6-3.

I hope ND suffers 10 unforced turnovers, but bama wins 3 -0.

with a bama win, isn't saban likely to make the jump back into the nfl - or will he be going anyway?
keep the sec dominance and have saban move on. i'll go w/ that option.

I see Bama wearing ND down as the game goes on and scoring a couple of times in the fourth to put it away. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Nick Saban's, but it's hard to pick against a guy who has a lot of BCSCG veterans on his team and knows how to get his team ready for these games.
Bama wins 31 - 17.

I want ND to win, but in ugly fashion. Maybe 10-7, with 4 Bama turnovers. I despise Bama.

They represent more good in the sport, in their athletes, in their program, than Bama. Regardless of the love that third parties give them. If you don't think Bama has a network, you've never heard 5 hours of Paul Finebaum. Bama has its own newspaper, aka Al.com. It has a whole fricking state.
Bama? Saban answers to no one. Not even the athletic director.
Bama - in the path of the gators each season - at least in theory - to get to a BCS game.
Bama- recruiting in the gator's backyard. And that means GA as well as FL, and the panhandle.
ND is good, Saban is evil.
I revel in the fact that my pure support for ND winning this game will - I hope - cause angst and perhaps backlash from those on this board. RELISH IT.
b/c at the end of the game, as the clock ticks down to zero, I'll still be a GATOR. a dyed in the wool graduate, with more than 250 games attended. And no one takes that away.
I'll have a toast, and say your names out loud - LOGARTOS - and then laugh.laugh I say!
Go irish!

Couldn't disagree more. My daughter went to Law School there (after UF Undergrad of course). Experienced their amazing attitude of supremacy, entitlement, even when they where terrible, imagine a cross between the arrogance of Bama and the denial of the Semis.

ND scheduled a good year, but teams were down. Could have been a great schedule.

I usually hate ND, but I'm certainly rooting for them in this one. They're definitely the lesser of two evils here.

ND has no right to be in a 8 team playoff with their schedule.
Absolutely pathetic - garbage football.

What are you talking about? Was this just hypothetically speaking? 1) There is not an 8 team playoff even in the works. 2) There is a 4 team playoff but that won't begin until the 2014-15 season. 3) USC was the preseason #1 and their problem was coaching not talent and Notre Dame beat them in their place as well as Oklahoma and a win over Stanford (to complain about officiating is whining). ND played a good schedule.

The Frightened Irish are a condescending, arrogant bunch. Help me recall Louis Nix
I remember us recruiting him out of Jacksonville, but seem to recall either academic, or character issues? Is that convenient memory on my part, or are the Domers getting the benefit of the doubt, as usual?

Count me in as someone who despises Bama, but will be hoping that ND gets annihilated in stunning fashion.
To be more specific, I'm hoping that the game is out of hand mid-way through the 1st quarter, with Bama going on to win the most lopsided game in championship history. Hopefully it can be enough to humiliate the ND fan and media faithful, and personally embarrass everyone that assisted in the climb from unranked to #1. Something like 63-3 Bama.
This way, Bama has little to crow about having won a championship that doesn't appear to some as hard-earned (and knowing they dodged a bullet)... Saban perhaps leaves for the NFL, and ND ruins enough reputations that their national perception returns to Bob Davie levels.
It is most assuredly sour grapes for me as a Gator fan, but I'm considering not watching the BCS championship for the first time ever... and I am a rabid fan of the college game. I'm pretty much hoping that the game turns out to be a complete joke for everyone involved. A snoozefest.

I could care less. I will probably not even bother to watch the game. Much like last year, in which I didn't even watch.

Living in NWF and having to listen to the gump fans spout off about how great bama is for another year....I just can't pull for the gumps. Don't get me wrong, I hate ND almost as bad and because of that could really care less who wins or who loses. That being said, I think many on here are selling the Domer's short, especially on defense. Bama's D is good but no where near what they have been the past two years. I wouldn't be surprised at all with a very close game.
