How about Randle?
Are we still looking good for Julius Randle in the late signing period? Any information?

Didn't mention us in his latest blog post, for what it's worth.

It seems like more recruiting guys are talking about Texas than any other school. I tend to think that recruiting experts work like a flock, many times. So take it for what its worth.

Given the decision time frame and the amount of college basketball to be played between now and then, anything we're hearing right now would be of dubious value. Once again, we're in his top three, but he's got a long time to think about it. We always had a better shot at him than Parker.

Agreed. Randle may be leaning Texas now, but a lot can change between now and then. Don't anyone forget that he credits Billy with really slowing the game down for him and he knows first hand how Billy can help him improve.
He would be a great fit, improve a ton, play with other elite talent and win a NC here.
It makes a ton of sense. Of course, so does being the hometown kid and playing close to home where he will be the focal point.

If Florida fails to land Randle, I wouldn't mind seeing the Gators have the following on their 2013-14 front court:
Seniors Patric Young (& Will Yuguete/Casey Prather) who have all developed under Donovan's tutelage to team up with transfers Damonte Harris, Finnley-Smith,
and newcomer Chris Walker!
Even though Florida seems to have a good shot at landing Randle, he may end up at Texas or Kentucky. I'm just going to worry about what seems to be more possible than trying to land some of these high profile recruits!

I don't understand why anyone would want to go to Texas. Barnes is terrible. So much wasted talent.

Understand. I agree we are in great shape next year regardlesa of if we land Randle or not.
FWIW, UK is out of the running according to all I've seen and UK people who have pretty reliable sources.

Just taking a realistic view on things. That's interesting news about UK regarding Randle; will keep my fingers crossed about UF's chances.
If the high profile recruit (from out of state) comes, it's a great win for the program and everybody should be ecstatic. I am glad that Billy Donovan is still getting nearly all of the top in-state kids (i.e. Boynton/Young, Hill/Walker, etc.) because that is what is important for the long term health of the Florida basketball program! Coach D stay on top of Joel Berry as well!

Was Barnes coaching at Texas when Florida had Lon Kruger? Jeez that's a long time there!

I don't think so. That was probably Tom Penders era. I'm guessing Barnes was still at Clemson back in mid-90's, but he has been at UT for quite a while now.

I agree with both points. Big man wise, I think UK's only shot is with Johnson.

And I think you get him. I know a lot of people think Syracuse, but just a gut says UK, eapecially how he's really blowing up his SR season

LOL...just because it makes sense to us, it doesn't mean it will to Randle.
I mean, 50% of the country thought Romney was the guy and 50% thought it was Obama. The 2 couldn't be further apart.
I guess the point is, some guys play for Barnes for a reason, but it's beyond what I can understand.
As someone once said "there are 2 types of people in this world...those who like Neil Diamond and those who don't".

Yeah, I watched the Texas / unc game the other night and couldn't believe how completely un-coached Texas looked. Texas was by far the superior team, but their lack of organization made the game far closer than it should have been...even thought they did win by a lot.

UNC is the smartest team and coach in the US. Didn't coach williams says this academic scandal has nothing to do with the basketball team. If Dick Vitale would ask some of their players what was the hardest thing to learn in African studies. The answer would be "going to class". LOL I am sure this was just an abberation, just because they took this class for getting A's 100 % of the time. Dickey V. should also ask Roy boy do you think the NCAA will penalize ya'll for this academic fraud. Are you kidding me. He would be pumping just wait till Roy has these new recruits coming in next year. The sports media, never fails to deliver their agenda and promote themselves.
NC is a shell of a team this year. Texas has some talent, but with Barnes will be sporadic all year.

I guess by the lack of comments on randle and more about UNC doesn't bode well for us getting him. Lost out on Joel dakari and Jabari. 0-3. Just need to land Randle. !!
