Post Arizona thoughts
A few of my thoughts about UF's team this year post the Arizona fiasco:
1. UF is very good.
2. UF has won national championships with teams that was not great in bounding the ball against at least UTn and similar teams.
3. The in bounding issue shows a bit of a recruiting issue the last few years. The Donovan in bounder is usually the SF. Traditionally that is his mismatch position where he has a 6'7" to 6'9" player guarded by a 6'5" or 6'6" player of the opponent. That means his in bounder typically has decent vision and sight lines. That is not the case this year. So at this point in the season UF is a bit lost at whether the in bounder should be Murphy guard by an other big or Rosario guarded by the opponent SF.

Post az meltdown...
Was a pretty crappy way to end a otherwise great day. I thought The Gators outplayed Az for all but 2 mins of the game.
Two things that Bother me.
1. Lack of someone who WANTS the ball at the end and will do what it takes.
2. We needto get to the ft line more.
Other than that I really like Ufs chances, AZ was a tough place/environment that Uf will only see maybe 2 more times this year if that. The refs let em play esp late. UF need to adjust and should have a lil more Saturday. Should be a good season, If Boynton gets hot they will really roll.

Good thoughts, all.
Erik is maybe a good choice to inbound the ball. He's not really quick enough to get loose from a quick defender, but he's usually a good passer (although he had some serious turnover issues with Arizona).

My thought post game was that this team can compete for a title if it closes out halves
AZ is as tough a home court as there is and we dominated them for 36 or 37 minutes. Lots of good to be found Sat nite. Just ended badly.

We're still playing as good of basketball as I've seen at this point in the season. I have faith that Billy will continue to shape this team into a FF contender come March.

Good points.
Of course, with such an experienced team, you shouldn't expect to see the sort of growth in play that say Kentucky will show.
However, properly utilizing the strengths and getting past the weaknesses of any team are a matter of practice for the coaches and the players.

My game thoughts were -
1.Damn Im gonna miss the game, but at least I can go thru the game thread and read the play by play!
2. While driving home, my wife checks her phone news messages and says, "heh I see the Gators lost to Arizona by 1 point"!!
3. After reading a brief recap, I think she did me a favor.

I was very impressed for about 37 of 40 minutes. I hope the animal came out in the postgame lockerroom and paint peeled off the walls. Our guys need to burn with resolve to never hand another one over like that.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go on a tear.

Thanks! It sucks to lose, but this ain't the BCS. A few losses won't keep us from a 1 or 2 seed in the dance.

I'm usually an optimist but the way this game was lost - Arizona didn't take it - may not be fixable with some adjustments. For whatever reason - and I'm not smart enough to know what it is - this team has repeatedly (including last year) shown an inability to close out in big games. This was the biggest game of the year so far and they incredibly found to a way to let a beaten team - UA was done at about 2-3 minutes left, having misfired on several possessions while behind by 6 or 8 - get back up. I think I was madder about KB taking a 3 with 20+ seconds on the clock during this period then his missed 1 and 1. I'm still following and cheering but they have to prove it at some point before I take them seriously as contenders.

Well there is little doubt in my mind that this team is a contender and I have to believe this loss will only help this team. Both championship seasons we lost about 5-6 games each of those years. Billy had those teams jelling at just the right time. If he can do that agin, this team does have the talent to go all the way.

Its the story of the last 3 years. We beat ourselves in the final minutes, and having to win in OT or losing in OT after dominating the first 35 or so minutes. Most loses came in the final minutes. The chemistry changes in the close games, for some reason it seems like a different team.
Hope we can pull it together. We are still streaky don't really have a offensive consistent player. We have some serious offensive weapons...

True very true. However Until billy strays from the Erving walker philosophy and runs something other then an iso the results won't improve. No reason not to involve Murphy in the pick and dictate what the def has to do.

Actually no. My post game analysis is very different after KSU. I think most people have a different analysis.
