Sitting at 24 right now, if we take a few more on D we take no others on offense right. Where's the room? It's a "good problem to have" but this is a real head scratcher. Are there any players currently committed that possibly go elsewhere, by whatever means, of it not do we get to 30?
I think Smythe, Swanson, Collins would be huge.
We have 5DL, 3 solid-ass LBs, 3 stud safeties, 1 superb CB(one is enough this class I think).
Who else would you put on our defensive board that we need? Unless staff "misevaluated" some DL from last class we should be good. But otherwise we're sitting on 12 DL 2012/2013. I can see another LB this class but feel we should take all of Swanson, Smythe, Collins if they would come, especially since we have been light on offensive players Boom's first two classes.
Can we go to 28?
I said a few days ago I think we are going to 28 or 29. SEC is a line of scrimmage league the staff loves getting DL. I think we will get a pass rusher they are just going recruiting too many not to land one. Staff would take Ramsey or Mack Alexander we could flip Shaq Wiggins but I doubt they do that.
^I want to be able to run the ultra-power — 1 center 2 guards 3 tackles 1 TE 1 QB 2 FB 1 RB.
On a more serious note, I want Swanson soon. He basically said he's ready to commit. We shouldn't pass on him. In our offense, I'd even say he's more important right now than Clark

I hear you but thinking "couldn't another concern our current committed DL?" Thirteen in two years is a full roster. Seems like it would start effecting our ability to recruit DL next classes. Staff's on a shopping spree and if the strategy is to have the ones who don't pan out move on it's another thing that recruits against us, although that's just something you sort out down the road.

Well, if we're really lucky I guess they'll be deciding who between a pass rusher, CB, LB(?), Swanson, Collins, TE. But that's a dream class and the number don't work out. I don't even see how we'll meet the 85 limit at 27+. I remember just a few months ago we seemed convinced the class might be around 22. Strange game.

If you can get premium Dl players you take them and worry about next year next year. Nobody from this years DL class is going anywhere they haven't even visited other school in recent months.

With the 13 departing seniors, we will have 21 available scholarships to get us up to 85. So to sign 27+ this year we would need 6+ to leave early for the NFL and/or transfer.
Robinson enrolling early means that we will fill all 9 slots available to be counted back toward the 2012 class, meaning technically this class could hold as many as 34 (25+9) if a sufficient number of players go to the NFL and/or transfer.
I would expect 2 to go pro and maybe 4 to transfer meaning 27 would be our limit for 2013 signees. The good thing about "only" signing 27, with 9 counting back towards 2012, is that 2013 will technically only have 18 signees meaning that 2014 could count 7 players back to the 2013 class.

I'm still fuzzy on the math, but ok. I just hope there's room to meet what the staff believes is our needs on defense and still have room for offense this cycle.
If Demarcus Robinson counts back to last class does that mean we are at 23 with room for four more to get to 27? What confuses me is my idea we are still after a DL, LB, CB on defense with the prospect of an incredible RB in Collins and FB in Swanson. But even then, that's only 28 and sounds like staff can work that number.
Any other EEs this class beside DRob?
I still find myself concerned about our ability to finish with guys like Mont Adams/E Daniel with our plethora of DL/DTs past two classes although I realize neither has been on board enough to slow down recruiting suitable DL and hold them a spot. But looking at georgia's class for example, they have a "juco" DT, a 54th ranked DT, and a couple medium ranked DEs so far. Seems like their class is tee'd up for Adams whereas our past two are filled with versatile DL. Perhaps unknown to me is the fact that Mont Adams has more or less signaled to staff, one way or the other, that he's a long shot.

Yes there are 8 other EEs in this class which is perfect because the 2012 class has exactly nine open slots to be used by 2013 EEs, so we will be using all 9 of them (running back Kelvin Taylor, receiver Demarcus Robinson, JUCO offensive linemen Trenton Brown and Tyler Moore, JUCO defensive tackle Darious Cummings, defensive lineman Joey Ivie, linebackers Daniel McMillian and Matt Rolin and safety Marcell Harris).
If I am counting correctly, right now we have 25 2013 signees but since 9 are getting counted back to 2012, the 2013 class technically has only 16. And since you can sign up to 25 in each class, we could conceivable add 9 more for 34 total players brought in this year. However, before then you will run into trouble with the total team cap of 85 players (unless somehow many more players leave the program).
We have 21 open slots so we will sign 21 + N + T, where N = NFL early entrants, and T = transfers. So plug in your best guesses for N and T and thats probably how many we will sign (at a max of 34 which is the absolute most possible based on the per year limit).

There are nine early enrollees, from what ive heard.
