I'd still take him if we had an opening at the end but this staff isn't waiting around for players to decide. There are too many good players interested.

I wish the kid well. I am suprised he is de-committing a bit.

Yes you did stop our offense very well while there but yes I was holding a grudge. From the day you got here and every time I hear you speak and your excitement about coaching our Gators, working your tale off and being a straight shooter, you are now one of my all time favorite coaches. Thanks coach.

Not suprised at the decommit, I like him as a player and think he can be good. But might take a few years to grow into his body. That being said, I like the Rolin kid from SC a bit better. Seems more explosive and has a great frame to grow into also. Good luck to Powell wherever he ends up.

Very true. Muschamp's first class was just outside the top 10 (11, 12 with the late addition of Brissett?), and that's because he was just trying to salvage what Meyer left.
Then last year, he had a concensus #5 class and looks to maybe vie for the concensus #1 spot this year, at least #2.
Muschamp definitely can recruit with the best of 'em.

Your point is sort of meaningless given that we are in year two of Muschamp's tenure.
When CUM won the MNC in 2006, his year two, he did it with 80%+ of Zook's players.
So I guess the jury was still out on Meyer?

This year's crop of LB's is as abundant in talent as the RB's are this year. It's a good year for a good (Gators) team to be choosy.

Got the story on Powell last night. ONe of my best buddy's talked to a family member and this is what happened, apparently.
He said, that USC is going to hire Powell's HS coach and they are both heading to the land of Lane. There is already one of their guys there, and the coach is trying to take all he can with him , to earn his pay.
The family member wanted him to be a Gator so he could go see him play...
Wasn't sure if it is the HC or a D coach, but that is what is supposed to happen.

If true, the kid is being manipulated. The HS coach is taking Powell with him to "earn his pay"? Why would a kid leave home and deny his parents a chance to see him play because of that? Not to mention the huge travel costs of having the kid on the west coast.

If the coach is relying on one kid to" earn his pay" he won't be there long.

That kid is treading on dangerous ground, that coach isn't looking out for him by doing this, and if it comes down to it at usc, that coach will save his own neck before he thinks about all the boys he has brought with him.

Are they going to hire him as a staff member in the football office? I cant see them hiring him as an actual coach.
The staff at Mainland talked Leonard Williams into going to USC last year after he had decided to go to Florida.

USC already has 16 in their class, including two OLBs. How many can they take with their probation? Powell seems like a reach given the quality they're bringing in.
Not sure I'm buying this.

They are 1 under their limit right now but a few kids are decommitting soon. Even when that happens still not sure Powell will have a spot then but this is def a high school coach is doing they did it last year.

Mainland's head coach is Scott Wilson. He's been the head coach there for a couple of years. Anyone know why he'd be steering his elite players to Southern Cal? Looks like he's cost us two commits in the last two years.

If USC takes another LB it would probably be Matthew Thomas. He's got a visit scheduled next month. Seems more USC's type. They only have one or two ships left to give and I don't know if LB is their biggest need.

You really think Mathew Thomas' mother is going to let him go to USC? I highly doubt he leaves the south

SC can take 18 with 3 being EEs counting back to 12. In 14, SC can take at max 15 if they sign their full allotment of 18 in the 13 recruiting class - 13/14 will be the final two years of SC's ship reductions and 75 ship limit.
Maybe Quinton Powell should call Nelson Agoholor to see how he's liked the start of his SC career so far. (chuckle) SC is in for three more down seasons, 13/14/15, by SC standards. It's an injustice by the Mainland staff to be steering any Florida players into that mess. There'll be an SC coaching change as the NCAA probation ends to boot. Lame Kitten's days at SC are numbered.

What's to chuckle about concerning Nelson's FRESHMAN year? The kid played behind the two best WR in the country. Who's going to be overly productive as a FR behind Woods and Lee? That's asinine thinking.

Quinton Powell decommitted because we flipped a hitting madman from the 'Cocks who goes by the name Rolin.
