The rest of the conference has stunk it up. I guess that we need to go out and win the Regular Season to give us cred and the Conference T for the automatic.

Have no idea how the Pac 12 is any better than the SEC. An awful OOC showing by them out west.

Don't care. We're dancing and I'm happy. That wheel will roll over.

Too early.
The SEC is better than the Pac-12. It's about as good as the Big 12 (which has also been underwhelming). The Mountain West actually looks very good... I can't say that the SEC is better than it right now.

I tried to "rep" you on the Mountain West comment, but I guess that I am too parsimonious with my reps and Gator Country wouldn't let me. Maybe the other posters on GC need to post more smart stuff.

The big question is who has everyone else played? SEC teams have played a relatively tough non-conference schedule so far - a lot of SEC teams have played top-ranked opponents (Georgia played #1 Indiana, Missouri played #2 Louisville at the time, UK and Duke, etc).
That said, I think we steamroll the SEC this year.

Pomeroy looks at who you played, but that's not as important as how you did against them. It's all about how efficient that team does against others. It's not like the BCS or RPI where teams get credit playing difficult schedules alone.
We've been incredibly efficient thus far, and that's why we're #2. The rest of the teams have lost to weak teams and gotten steamrolled by good teams.

Until we get rid of coaching deadwood like Andy Kennedy, Kevin Stallings we will have this. The conference really needs some coaching talent infusion. The worst things these teams like UT, VU/Ole MISS, LSU will stink it up now and start playing better once conf play starts and brings the rest of the conf down by beating tourney caliber teams. I saw UT play and they look frustrating to watch.

The ranking is deserved from the games I watched in part and the results, except for UF.
Our RPI will hurt once conference play commences, since the only comparables will be out of conference results.

That is why losing the GT game hurts.
Folks, we play 3 more ranked teams, the ENTIRE year. None of which were in the SEC a year ago. We will play 4 ranked teams the entire year.
Our schedule is like NDs in football this year. We tried to make a real schedule, but our opponents laid some eggs.

Kentucky will be back in the Top 25 very soon. They're not very good right now, but they have too much talent to be out of the polls for an extended period of time.

Too early, but yes, the SEC does look not very good.
At least they are rated somewhat higher than the Ohio Valley conference.

Doesn't matter very much as it relates to team goals. Make the dance and see what you got.

Can't believe the level of worry over this for some of you. You guys control your destiny as a 1 seed. You'll be favored in potentially every game left on your schedule. You take care of business, even with some losses, you're a 1 seed.

Hoorah! UT beat a currently ranked top 25 team in Wichita State today (handed WSU its first loss of the season). Of course who knows where Wichita State will be ranked at the end of the season but for the moment it's a nice win for UT and the SEC :-)
