Guys on CBS were talking up the Gators today
after the ark and michigan game today 12-8-12 on cbs, the analysts, seth davis, et. al. were talking about the gators. how the loss of erv walker might have made us better. ...and the loss of lottery-pick beal - i think they were half shocked we're playing so well.
the did say that we're a much tougher team inside. something they haven't seen from UF in recent years.
also the defense. gave alot of kudos to the way we're playing 'd'. able to switch to different defenses - as the biggest difference. i wasn't exactly tuned into their every word so i may not have represented their words properly here, but if anyone else saw it, post their quotes here.

Pretty good synopsis. Also said that the Gators are a team without superstars that play incredibly well as a cohesive unit. Said that the Gators have "chemistry"

Did they really say this? Did anyone Tivo it? Can I find it on Hulu? Netflix TV? On Demand from my cable tv provider?

I was worried about the loss of Beal....not about our PG play. Beal was such a solid contributor across the board in every aspect.

I think it's already evident we're at least as good this year at the point. Nothing against Erv, but Scottie brings a different, more versatile skillset to the position.
And Scottie will only get better with more PT.

I think part of the reason for our success is that PY, EM, KB, SW, WY, CP - a bulk of the major contributors (minus Erv and Beal) from last year's team are stronger, more experienced and more confident than last year. You can see they already had great chemistry last year, add another year and it's like we're just picking up where we left off last year and if anything have actually improved in many areas, especially defensively.
Sure Erv and Beal were important but this team is more a TEAM than ever. We're playing at a February level in December. If we continue to improve like we have by March we're going to be off the charts. There's very few teams with the balance and EXPERIENCE we have from top to bottom. The beauty is we can throw 8-9 players on a constant, relentless rotation into the game and wear down their 5-7 key players. You can see hands on their knees while we're substituting fresh legs.
It's been a pure pleasure to watch.

When Georgia lost Dominique Wilkens they became a Final Four team.
Did the Dawg's become better because he was no longer there?
$h1t happens.
Give it a rest.
Jeez.

The Gators went from two NIT's with the truest of point guards, Nick Calathes to three straight NCAA's including back to back elite 8's with Erv Walker at the point , you never gave Erv any credit for that improvement so to say this team is better because he is gone is disingenuous at best- the continued improvement of this team is an extension of the things Erv brought to the court and the maturation of the team as a whole - everybody, Erv included, is excited about the potential this team has shown- don't be a dick

So now we've taken the next step. Not only was all success the last 2 years the result of Walker. He is also responsible for the success of this years team.
got it!

Man, the CBS guys are right. It really has been an eternity since we've been a tough, inside-oriented team. Why, to find such a dynamic you have to search your memories and travel all the way back to the distant days of 2011. Did we even have the internet back then?

and since Kasey Hill is just a guy who gets into the lane or shoots an outside shot as a PG, I am also guessing that he signed with Florida strictly because of the legacy of Erving Walker. Since of course they are both the same type of player.
Therefore, we owe all success of NEXT year's team and the future NBA career of Kasey Hill, to Erving Walker and his inspiring legacy!

Of course, when Kasey and Chris come in next year and the team plays well it will only be because we finally got rid of KB and Murph, right?
How is Ohio looking?

I was watching a little of the Arizona/Clemson game tonight and near the end of the game the announcers where talking about Arizona's upcoming game with the Gators. They really talked up Florida and how good we are and in particular singled out Murphy who the color guy (don't know who it was) said that in his opinion Murphy was the best 4th man in the nation this year and is playing at an NBA level in terms of his overall game.
