Spending his time trying to flip a solid UF recruit? Sounds good to me. Less time spent on more impressionable players.

With Henry, Bama now has three RBs in their 2013 class. I don't think we have to worry about them going after Taylor or him being interested. There hasn't been anything to worry about since Kelvin committed to UF last spring.

Doesn't Saban know the unwritten Big Ten rule? Oh wait, never mind.

I doubt since the commit of D Henry Saban's been that interested in Kelvin. If we had both DH and KT on board Saban would still be after one or both, hard.

Unless he's recruiting Henry at linebacker...

Thank goodness Taylor is who he is or I would be very concerned. Why is Nick so up on this kid anyway? He will see him playing enough!

And imagine what an acomplishment that would be!! To grab Henry and Taylor out of Florida! Arguably the best two backs to come out of here.

I'm not trying to fight yesterday's recruiting battles or decisions, and I realize our staff doesn't like Henry at RB.
But if we felt like Matt Jones, another tall, upright runner would be a good fit here and grow into a solid back, why not Henry? I can buy it if we made promises to our two current commits. But if not, then what? It hasn't stopped Saban from piling up backs with similar styles.
Again, not trying to stir the pot but 2+2 is adding up to 5 in his recruitment. Or, maybe I'm just mathematically challenged.

It's very easy. If he gets all of the amazing running backs to commit to him, he chooses which ones to keep and which ones to transfer. Then that gives him 2 yrs less eligibility of said recruit against Alabama in the future... So that would mean two years less of Tempenney or Henry against Bama in the future, means he has two more years of likely wins against his rivals.

Agreed. I think that was the reason he recruited and signed Phillip Sims at QB in 2010. I don't believe Saban ever really intended to put an athletic quarterback at the helm of his offense. If it worked out, then great. If not, then he was keeping Sims out of competition against him for two to three years. And look if that wasn't exactly what happened.

I have a lot of suspicions about Saban as an honest person, at least as I see honesty and integrity. But a lot of teams recruit players who never see the field. There just aren't enough ships to recruit defensively like that. It looks more to me like Saban just recruits well and loads up at positions but is able to do so because of the results his players, the ones he keeps around, have in his system. Whether or not there is some other kind of cheating behind the scenes, who knows, but I certainly wouldn't be shocked based on some of the information that has surfaced. Bama at minimum seems to push and bend rules.

True. But there are a few more when you manage to sign 25+ every single season, no matter how many you already have on scholarship.

Just out of curiosity, anyone remember who was in the mix for Sims besides Bama?

We have two backs that the coaches liked more. I'm sure they would have taken him had we not gotten lane or taylor and missed on bryant/green which are the only other two backs I'd think they would take over him.
He's a beast and I think he can contribute in the way Burton does but the team needed backs like Lane/Taylor. Had he been in last years class I'm sure we would have taken him.

Glades Day's Kelvin Taylor, standing with Fred, his father, was named the Lou Groza Awards High School Player of the Year.

He'll leave Glades Day on Dec. 21, play in the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 4 in St. Petersburg, and start at Florida Jan. 7.
