With Joker Phillips are there any possible recruits we can pick up because of him
It would be nice.

Which 2 or 3 Star recruits picked UK over UF? My guess is none.
Joker has a WR commit is Deangelo Yancey. 6'2" 200 from ATL. Maybe we take him if we miss on every other WR and Joker thinks he is better than his ranking. Champ loves that.
If he had a TE committed, there might be a chance. A few FL kids, but again, UF probably didn't show much interest.
Alvonte Bell, is a 6'6" 229lb DE from Miramar, FL that might have some upside, but a D player is probably more excited about Stoops coming in that Joker leaving.

Often times these coaches have relationships with guys who have not committed to them or even have them listed on a short list. Or relationships with coaches from certain high schools of star players. So it isn't a crazy notion to think he could turn us on to someone we would covet.
I am interested to see if this hire turns the heads of some players we have been talking about for some time. Filling the WR vacancy will have some effect on recruiting.

We pick up Joker, not Kentucky. He will bring recruits here, just not from his former school.

At best, this hire will swing one of the WRs who are currently on the fence with UF. More likely, Phillips upgrades WR recruiting starting with the 2014 class.

There may have been some wr's out there that really liked JP but did not like UK. I would not be shocked if there was a decent wr out there that may want to come to UF because of the combination of JP and UF together.

How about players in the general Kentucky area that Phillips was chasing that are 4 or 5 star recruits?
I doubt he only targeted 2 and 3 stars.

He was targeting 4 star WR James Quick, but OSU and Louisville were in the lead

He can recruit. Period. He's going to immediately help our overall efforts. To target stud WRs the impact has to be seen a bit before he has recent enough proof of what he can do.
I'm guessing he is very influential for guys all over the field and that's why we hired him.

My relatively uninformed opinion is the staff jumped a little early on WRs. I think we're finished, but lacking playmakers at other positions staff would take a 5th if he were elite and wanted to come. Then if one or two guys don't show on the field in a year or two we see transfers. But four WRs is already and that's a full WR class.

We DESPERATELY NEED WR help and we need it NOW. No projects or maybes need apply. If the coaches are not as certain as can be we should encourage the player accordingly. I am sick of projects at WR. Look where it got us this year!!!

Yep. Debose was a serious project. right. While I agree that our playmakers at receiver were the worst in several years, there are some mitigating factors. First, many of these guys were recruited for a different scheme with different things required of them. Second, Muschamp has never really put a receiver class together under his watch since the first year was a transition class and last year was sort of a mess with only two real targets, both of which went elsewhere.

As Spurrier used to preach to receivers......stick your foot in the ground and cut and run your route as precisely as possible........then come back to the QB is he's in trouble. They've got to block also.
Sounds simple, but many WR's just quit if they're not open.
Maybe Pease will give Driscol some audible options and hot reads to receivers if defenses are loaded against the run or he sees DB's playing too tight. A basic strategy might be screen, slant, shallow post,,,,,,,,then out and up for the big one!

“Florida is back in the mix right now since they got Joker,” Alexander told Taylor Hamm of Gigem247 on Tuesday. “They’re fighting their way back in it and they’re doing a great job. They’re showing a lot of love. Coach Muschamp called, stuff like, so it’s going good. They think I can come in and compete right away. They have the number one recruiting class in the country right now. They are ready to dominate so we’ll see.”
