The idea that UK would miss the tourney is preposterous. They will get better.

However, I got the impression from Cal's post game interview that he doesn't like the attitudes. He more or less said that this team doesn't seem to hate losing like some of his other squads, most notably the 2010-2011 group that started slow and went to the final four.

The rest of December is exactly what the doctor ordered for UK. The next few games are walkovers at home after you guys lost a coupke of tough ones. If the kids respond positively to it and work harder in practice they will have 4 or 5 games against inferior teams to improve their chemistry too.

I agree with you that the light will come on. I don't know if Cal set up the schedule this way on purpose, but if he did, it was a great job on his part.

Come Louisville they'll be ready and more confident. There's a lot of talent there.

The problem is you can't expect to bring in freshman every year with the concept of the one-done program and not expect years like this to happen.

If you go down the road of basing your entire starting line-up based upon the one-done concept you are never going to know what you are going to get with freshman - I don't care how many recruiting stars that kid may have.

Ukitty may be fine in the coming months but right now they are learning the tough lessons of many freshman - learning to listen to coaching and trying to play together in a manner that leads to good team chemistry on the floor.

Uk was overrated and the assumption was you can bring in another hot freshman class and continue what happened last year was a pure delutional UKitty fans pipe dream - it rarely works out in the positive from the very start of a season.

Now does that mean what we see know is what we will see from UK in March - probably not but who knows. Everything now is dependent on whether those freshman will listen and learn from their mistakes or not.

I agree. It's a flawed system. But if it's your team then you support it I guess.

I agree but would add that no system prevents years like this. Florida and Unc dont rely on freshmen yet ended up NIT bound after their title talent left for the league. It happens. Anyone expecting any system to produce great results every year is delusional. You just hope you're in the mix enough years/often enough to be satisfied.

Great post!! Calipari is in charge of the schedule. The great thing is we will all find out what happens. The scary part is I was more excited about the Stoops press conference than the Baylor game lol

You watched the prior UK teams and you could tell they were one and done type players or NBA ready immediately...this class of freshman I don't really see any one and done players. I guess Noel could go and get drafted on potential but I don't see the talent level the same as in the past. They are really hurting at point as they don't have that dynamic player like Wall, Teague, or Knight.

I like Cal and defend him on here all the time, but I don't see how I could defend him thinking Noel's hair (and its twitter account) has anything to do with the losing streak. Time will tell...

They should just let Goodwin run with the pg. I haven't watched a full game yet but what I did see was the walk-on out playing harrow and the transfer kid I believe. How was the pg play against Baylor?

Don it didn't go very well. Harrow will get more run at pt guard, but if he isn't the fix then it goes to Goodwin. Either way tons of time to go in the season.

Florida lost their top 6 players when the 04s left. Marreese Speights hardly played his freshmen year. Walter was the most experienced guy we had, and he was not a great leader, made a lot of bone headed moves that year when it was up to him. He was a two, not a point guard. We all know what Dan Werner brought to the table. The rest were freshmen- freshmen with no experience running the point. Front court with no experience. It was starting from scratch, similar to what KY is going through.

We all know what Dan Werner brought to the table. The rest were freshmen- freshmen with no experience running the point. Front court with no experience. It was starting from scratch, similar to what KY is going through.
My point is only intended to counter the "this is what you get when you depend on freshmen" line of thinking. Clearly Florida did not return uber-talented upperclassmen after their 07 title, but its also safe to say that the plan wasn't to reload with great freshmen every year. Thats all I'm trying to say. Years like this have happened to other teams after a title - not just ones who rely on youth.

There have been a few mentions of UK not making the tourney. I have to say that my expectations are about as low as they can get for this Kentucky team, but they still require a trip to the NCAA tournament. Not a good seed even. Just a seed. After that I'll view anything as gravy.

Hopefully like Jeff said the guard play comes around and Harrow has the light switch turn on. I felt like he should be more than ready after the transfer year but is obviously having problems mental, physical, or whatever it may be. I think their best bet would be to let Goodwin run with it now before SEC play starts. As much as I would like for you guys to lose, Im more of a fan of keeping the SEC strong. Plus I dont want any excuses when you guys play the Gators lol not from you guys just in general.
