Marquette
Has anybody seen them play? I have no clue how much they have changed since last year.
Just checked out a couple of their forums and they don't seem very confident. A couple people were saying if MU can stay within 10 they'd be happy.
Results so far:
Colgate W 84-63
Seastern Louisiana W 64-53
Butler L 72-71
Miss State W 89-62
USC W 72-64
UMBC W 79-46
Every one of their wins is against a horrible team and their 1 loss is against a Butler team that lost pretty bad at Xavier, killed North Carolina and lost pretty bad to Illinois.

Well, we beat them by 10 in the Sweet 16 last season. They were a 3-seed. They lost Big East Player of the Year, Jae Crowder to graduation
They have some SIZE. Gardner, 6'-8", 290 lbs., and Otule 6'-11", 275. Otule missed most of last season with an ACL.
I don't know their outlook this time, but they've got a great program. They'll be tough.

UF will likely try to run these guys.

Against SoCal they played 7 guys 10+ minutes. In their loss to Butler they did play 10 guys 10+ minutes.
I guess Blue is cleared to play against UF.

Yep, this game looks like the classic "impose your will and style of play" game. If we speed it up, we win. If they slow it down, they win. At least on paper...I haven't seen Marquette play so I really don't know how they like to play.

KenPom says we have an 85% chance of winning. Projected score is 75-63.

Looks like they lost from last year's game:
Jae Crowder- 15 pts, 7 rebs, 32 mins
Darius Johnson-Odom- 14 pts, 4 rebs, 38 mins
They only played 8 guys vs. us last year.

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal view of Florida-Marquette game: LINK
Marquette is still stinging from loss to Gators in NCAA Sweet 16 last year.
The "Marquette Warriors" was my favorite college basketball team while growing up in Wisconsin.
I stopped following them after Al McGuire retired (winning the NCAA Championship his final year, 76-77).
The Marquette "Warriors" became the "Golden Eagles" in 1994 due to pressure to make the Jesuit school's team PC.

For the season, they have 10 guys averaging at least 10 minutes. I suspect their bench will shorten, as some heavy minutes have come against sub-par opposition.
But they easily go 8 deep, and it is a solid, if unspectacular group. Jamil Wilson has been playing great in recent games and will draw attention along with Gardner. But their backcourt is probably the strength. Blue is going to play.
I think we are better at every spot and should be able to pull away.
go gators!
