Potential OL commits for 2013?
I'm looking at last year's class and this years projected class and I am not seeing the OL numbers that I think we need. Am I missing something? Can someone who has been following this update me on the situation. It seems to me that we are setting ourselves up for a problem in 1-2 years.
Thanks

We're going to finish strong at OL, imho. All we really have to do is land Trent Brown, really, for that to happen. And it's looking pretty good at this point.
Also, Tyler Moore and Max Garcia will be in the mix next year as well... They aren't listed on any of the recruiting sites or included into the recruiting numbers, as they are transfers.
There's also potential for another name to come up out of nowhere, maybe a +1 OL. Ira Denson is ours if we wanted him, ever since the Dawson silent, that option hasn't been looking good tho.

For true. I snuck him in there.
In between us possibly, maybe, *even a minute chance* flipping Ira.... Stoops going to Kentucky (And taking Coley with him, I heard), thus opening up DeMarcus Christmas and Denzel Ware.... J.C. Jackson jocking the Gators already..... Our SUPER AWESOME FANTASTIC win over them....
...I am feeling pretty good! All is well in Florida this year.

He's hardly alone in that. ESPN says Denson is the 3rd best guard in the country, Scout has him not much further down. They might all be wrong, and Muschamp and Co. certainly don't seem enamored, but stomp's not exactly out on a thin limb here.

All based on some performances at camps.

I hear ya! I loved his toughness against Brantley in the combine. I wish we would take him. He's a goon man!

I just don't see how that is such a bad thing... even especially for OLinemen. For some kids, especially those who play in weak conferences, the combines are all they have. And Denson shined, after being put up against some of the top talent in the nation.
IMHO, The Combine is where sleeper's wake up. Some people wonder why coaches offer a 3-star before a highly touted 4-star... This is the reason why, these kids don't have the ability to showcase their talents for whatever reason... Until the Combine hits, then they give it their all.

what do you think of his actual tape?
It does sound crazy that UF said no to Denson & Crowder. Jackson will be great in our offense.

Denson visited before Dawson and had a really good time. For a second there, I thought we would take on Denson *and* Dawson... But when Dawson visited the next weekend and gave a "silent" commit, it seems we may have cut off contact from Denson. Dawson didn't pan out and he isn't even on our board. This led Denson, who is solid friends with Caleb Brantley from the combine, to pursue Brantley on behalf of FSU. But now that we have won, and Brantley is sticking with the Gators, I think we still have a chance to flip Denson, through Brantley, if we really wanted him.
Te question remains though, Do we want Ira Denson??
I could make the case that within the next 2 years, now that this season is over (almost), we will lose all but a few of our inside OL. So It makes sense for us to take on an abnormal (2-3) amount of OG/OC for this class and next class.
Or I could make the argument that Denson is the best OL FSU has committed to them this year, and is even considered one of the top three players of said class. So naturally, I want us to snatch him away from FSU.

I don't think we're in a position to turn down good offensive linemen. I doubt Muschamp disagrees with me. Which leads me to believe he probably doesn't consider Denson a particularly good offensive lineman.

I'd still like to see Roderick Johnson get back into this class.

Not gonna lie, aside from watching his stuff from the combine and maybe a hand-full of highlights, I haven't seen his tape.
But, honestly, how I feel about OL recruiting - There are only a few guys each year who we know are going to pan out to some extent, DJ Humphries for example, we all know he is going to be a starter here out until he leaves. But with certain OL players, it's really hard to tell what type of player they are, talent-wise, until they are here on campus taking snaps with the guys next to them... Inside guys have to play with a guy on each side. The skill next to them dictates how well they do. If Denson can come in and play with that same intensity that he has shown, then I am all in. Our OL needs that type of fire. We need that old style of OLinemen who looks at Defensive Linemen as a guy they have to embarrass.
I don't believe Denson is a DJ Humprhies type of player. BUT I do think that he is elite enough to at least have his shot at being in the rotation, even as early as a freshman.

Staff believes Denson now is best he's gonna be; has reached his ceiling. Dawson, Tunsil, Jackson, Dillard, Rod Johnson (love the full name) still have room to improve and grow as o linemen

I read elsewhere that Johnson may still be in play due to improvement in his grades.
