Georgetown
Hey fellow NBN's...I am sooo pumped for this bkb season to start, as I am every year....this year could be interesting...if we can gel and play great D which I think most know we are capable of, I can see us making a FF run...if we don't play to our potential and/or have a down year shooting the ball, we could be out first weekend...should be a fun ride....
Hopefully we get our season off on the right foot this weekend...can anyone on here give us a quick lowdown of Gtown as far as who they lost, who they have coming back, and any big time recruits...I know they won 23 or 24 games last year and got to the 2nd round of MM...I also know that Porter kid is a stud but other than that, nothing else....

Haven't heard much about them in Pre-season. They're usually long & athletic, Princeton offense.

According to that article, typical College Basketball - have to replace more than one key player.
Admittedly, your three leading scorers is tough. But that was the Gator's situation in 2006, so who knows.
The Thompson's always recruit athletic players who play every minute for what it's worth.
They are always a tough game, even in an off year (which this may well not be).

They're not good this year. I think I saw them projected 8th in the Big East and Lunardi has them as an 8 seed - fwiw. Still though, who knows what can happen when the game is being played on a ship in 45 degree weather. I think you guys win easy.

"lunardi has them as an 8 seed". Dumber words have not been spoken. Might as well cite a random person on the street of Auckland, nz for there opinion of georgetown.

Well REM I hope you are right but apparently today Prather got another concussion in practice so we won't have him for this game....hopefully it won't affect us much....

Georgetown was picked to finish 5th in the BE this year. The Hoyas are under the Radar but make no mistake this team will be in the top 25 sooner rather than later. The Hoyas return what is essentially 3 out of 6 starters since Otto Porter only started a couple games but played more minutes than a starter Nate Lubick who also returns. We also return starting PG Markel Starks. The hoyas will start a very tall line up that could give Florida's 3 guard offense trouble.
Hoyas will start:
Markel Starks 6'2" JR PG
Greg Whittington 6'8" SO SG
Otto Porter 6'8" SO SF
Nate Lubick 6'8" JR PF
Mikael Hopkins 6'9" SO C
Off the bench Hoyas have:
6'5" SO Guard Jabril Trawick
6'3" FR Guard D'Vauntes Smith Rivera Top 50 recruit
6'7" FR SF Stephen Domingo Top 50 recruit for 2013 who skipped last year of high school to enroll early
6'9" RS SO C Moses Ayegba tore ACL last year.
7'0" FR C Bradley Hayes who we beat you out for.
Hoyas played lots of zone last year and were a terror on defense 7th best in the nation and 1st at defending 3 pointers. It's going to be cold and the out door arena will make it difficult to shoot on the ship.

Half of my enjoyment of NBN is seeing your random bouts of anger. The other half is the scintillating discussion, of course.

Thx Hoya, G-Town is big... Gonna need Scotty's size at the guard. Less Rosario, IMO

I can see why Donovan might think of going with Young, Murphy and Yeguete in the game at the same time. If he does it, it would probably be in the second half if all three stay out of foul trouble.

It would be very difficult to use such a lineup, not only because of the limitations offensively, but because we have no depth behind them. Especially now, with Prather out.

I'm thinking WY is going to surprise some people with his offense this year

He may be much better offensively but he is not a jump shooter. He can not take someone off the dribble. He is not a great playmaker for others. These are things our offensive system requires from a successful 3. Will Yeguete has a much different skill set.

I dont think we ever even offered Hayes, and this is a whole new year you dont have to justify why you think Georgetown will be good the games tomorrow and we will see just how good both teams are at that point. Playing zone D is good since UF is generally considered a certified zone buster.
This game wont make or break anyones season, but I think it will be a good game.

lol nate lubick is such a bum
otto porter is probably the most talented player on either team. they struggle with turnovers, too bad wilbekin is out bc their pg play is spotty as best.
they will be relying on many fresh/soph to make a significant year-over-year jump.
