Women's Preseason Polls

The SEC media poll was released today, and we were predicted to finish 9th (basically right where we finished last year, with newcomers Texas A&M and Missouri occupying spots near the top and bottom of the conference respectively). Jen George was voted 1st team All-SEC.

Online publication College Sports Madness is more optimistic, giving us a #22 national ranking, 5th in the SEC. See their Gator preseason preview here: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/5048

I would probably split the difference - I think it will be hard to crack the top 5 in the SEC (as those are all top 20 teams nationally IMHO), but a 6-8 finish seems very doable and that should be enough to return to the NCAA.

Nice to see us ranked in one poll. We have added a huge amount of height (length) as well as good freshmen and two very highly ranked players who were injury redshirted last year. We will be a much better team this year. I don't know if we will shock the world, I certainly hope so, but we will be better than last year.

Agree with all of the above and predict at least 3 more wins and another NCAA finals berth. BUT, the following season, with the 7 freshman gaining great experience, a run for the SEC title and much deeper in the NCAA finals!!!

9th place is much too low for the team. They will be much better this season. The team will be younger, but much more talented. I think 5th is very doable. We can definitely beat out a lot of those teams that they have in front of us.

So pumped about the UK women's basketball team. I'm more looking forward to the women's team than the men's! Matthew Mitchell rocks!!

The preseason ranked teams on our schedule are:
(6) Kentucky
(10) Georgia x2
(15) Texas A&M
(16) Vanderbilt
(20) Tennessee
(RV) LSU
(RV) Florida St
(RV) Michigan
(RV) South Carolina x2

Obviously the non-conference schedule is pretty soft but early road games at FSU and Michigan should give a pretty good idea of where the team is at.
