Last Off the Bench?
Since there has been considerable discussion regarding the starting 5, I thought it might be interesting to open a discussion regarding who is least likely to see much action this upcoming season.
Now, obviously, walk-ons are most likely to be last off the bench, but lets limit the discussion to scholarship players.
We can be almost positive that this last group will not include any of Young, Murphy, Yuguete, Prather, Rosario, Wilbekin or Boynton.
There is an apparent shortage of depth at PF/C and also, at SF (unless either Rosario or Wilbekin play some there), and, perhaps, at PG.
There are too many shooting guards, although, apparently Boynton is going to play as the #2 PG and Rosario, might play some at SF.
So, considering Larson, Ogbuze, Frazier, Walker and Graham - it may be that Larson (a legitimate 5), Walker (likely a 3), and Ogbuze (a 1 or 2), have some available minutes due to something of a depth shortage at their most probable ultimate positions.
Development wise, and I may be far off base here, it might be that Walker and possibly Graham have the greatest need for improvement.
Assuming the preceding is not totally inaccurate, it suggests that the 3 most likely LASTS are, in alphabetical order: Frazier, Graham and Walker.
So, who does the crew think will likely be last off the bench, and, assuming those 3 are, in fact, most likely, are any of them likely redshirt candidates?

Larson is going to have to improve just to be the first five off the bench. Sounds like Ogbuze is the most developed of the freshmen and will be helping at the two right away. Should be some minutes to go around for the three guards, given that Boynton is going to play a lot at the point and Rosario will be playing at the three.

Since the vast majority of the play will be by 7 scholarship players and maybe one technical walkon in Larson, that leave the 4 true frosh. Since they are not likely to play key minutes, Donovan can then use last off the bench to encourage young guys to do bwetter in practice. Thus, unless a true frosh redshirts, I expect last off the bench to vary from game to game possibly due to how well each player practices rather than game situations.

Regarding Larson, well, he is the only legitimate reserve 5, although, as you note Strange, Larson wasn't much last year, and it's likely his stock is lower now, so it is likely that Prather will play some at 4, with probably Yuguete and possibly Murphy playing 5.
Interesting point Insti, and my guess is that that point has some validity.

Seems like Murphy played a lot of 5 last year. We usually brought Yeguette in to replace him at the 4 when Young was getting a blow.

I flunked spelling throughout school.
As a result, I advocate phonetic spellings.
I mean, think about the way those two names are spelled, Phonetically they are Yeh-Gooohete and Og-bueeeeeezeeee.

I know there are times I don't agree with what you say, but that made me laugh because I guess there is some truth to it. I honestly have no clue but I can also assess if recent history repeats itself the only 8 who will see time come the tourney are Young, Murph, Prather, KB, Scottie, Rosario, WY and the other freshman guard who has proven most worthy.
Larson would maybe get a few minutes here and there due to foul trouble, but no one plays more than 7-8 come the end of the year.
