Ugggh damn ridiculous for UK to be rated that high! We only lost 94% of our offense and return 0 starters. We are the only BCS that can say that. We will be good but it's going to take some time!

Agree completely. UK would seem to be ranked properly somewhere from 10-20. There's a boat load of talent there again, but not like last year. I think in time they will be top 10, but not right now.
Vitale needs to just be viewed as an ambassador to the game and nothing more. He recycles the same things and gives no fresh commentary or thoughts, generally speaking.
I think he has UF about right. If any of the freshman guards can step in and contribute, I would expect another Sweet 16 run.

Analysis: Imagine if Bradley Beal had returned. Kenny Boynton gets his chance to shine.

The analysis sort of brings me back to the first few great Billy D Gator teams. Every year, "Imagine if Miller came back", "Imagine if Harvey came back", "Imagine if Kwame Brown showed up", "Imagine if Roberson and Walsh came back"...wait, scratch that last one.

I am biased, of course, but think he is dead wrong to have Tennessee that low. I don't think we will finish below Missouri and let's face it, after last year does any objective fan think Florida will win in Knox this year (our only meeting)? Dick plays favorites and is just coasting at this point in his "career". Just an old man who still wants a paycheck but doesn't want to do the research anymore. I doubt he spent more than 10 minutes on this list... Fwiw, Austin Nichols is a Vol commit now. Our 2013 class will be in the top 10. Cuonzo is recruiting better than Pearl ever did.

At only #15, Florida is ranked far too low in this poll for a team that was throttling Vitale's preseason #1 (Louisiville) for the majority of that Elite 8 game last year. The Gators ought to be ranked somewhere from #5-10 just like in the previous two pre-season polls. Many of those same players (that did the throttling) return to this season's Florida team - I mean it was not all Bradley Beal & Erving Walker. Florida still returns Boynton, Murphy/Yuguete, Young & co. The Gators will have even more depth & versatility in their back-court than last season's team.
There are some questionable programs ranked ahead of Florida:
- #11 Duke? This team lost all kinds of talent last year. No more Rivers here.
- #5 NC St (Just because CJ Leslie returns for a 2nd year? This high ranking in comparison to UF's seems like an overreaction to me.)
- Vitale's over-fascination with the Big 10:
#2 Indiana (ok for now), #6 Michigan (really?),
#7 Ohio St (lost a lot of talent & only their PG & undersized SF/PF returns plus a lot of inexperience on this team); the Buckeyes should be out of the top10!
#10 Michigan St (ditto on the lost talent), no more Dramon Green!
but a low ranking of #22 Wisconsin (one of UF's opponents)?
Last season, Wisconsin makes the SW16 but Michigan loses in the 1st Rd? Talk about an over-rated Mich. team. Will Mitch McGary & Glenn Robinson improve the Wolverines that significantly in the "mighty" BigI conference?
What happened to the Big East teams in these rankings like Georgetown, Marquette, etc.?
The SEC should easily have 2-3 top10-15 teams in this poll with a couple of other honorable mentions thrown in (i.e, Tennessee, Alabama, etc.). Missouri is ranked too low!

Back to Back E8 runs and, while Beal is a for sure loss, with the added depth, we can't do it again? I would have this team in the top 10.
I think the core 6 players will produce more than most and if reserves (Larson & Prather) continue to develop that is deep team. Braxton is the only Freshman for SURE that will contribute in the rotation.
Any quality minutes from the other 3 FR is gravy. I believe I read that Frazier was farther along in his development than once thought. Hope he is 6'4" 215lb by the start of the season and can help at the 3.
And finally, the quality practice our 1's will get against Harris & DFS is VERY valuable.
I am excited about this team.

Broken record: if our pg situation becomes a major strength then we go to the FF. If not, then we fall short. But if PY becomes a serious National POY candidate then pg will be less of a need.

I think some of you are wrong about Dickie V, if you follow him in twitter you will find that he is still amazingly active, I mean the guy is everywhere and still very sharp, very connected.

He posts pictures at rays games all the time I'm pretty sure he is tweeting unless he has a full time tweeter/photographer to follow him around everywhere he goes

Yes, it is, it is obvious, he also tweets lots of pictures from some place called The Broken Egg, near Tampa, fans of different teams eat breakfast there and he takes pics with them and tweets them so unless he has his secret tweeter following him around and taking pics and tweeting them it is really Dickie V. He also has back and forth with Erin Andrews, Magic, Bilas, he tweets to get donations to his foundation, it is him, check it out

If his tweets are promoting his personal agenda, then it is definitely him doing the tweeting, because that's what he does. The most self centered personality in sports. Have met he and his wife, and his wife is really nice.
