Jabari Parker Visiting UF Nov 2-4
He will be here for us to welcome Mizzu into The Swamp. Bullis, thoughts on our chances? (Or anyone else with info can chime in)
Quote:
"For the most part, they got great coaches," Smith said. "They all have great history. They all have guys who played at his position and played in the NBA. The schools themselves are three great academic schools. Those are things they look at.
"He's looking at schools to see how they can prepare him. He watched the ESPN movie 'Broke' the other day, and we had a conversation about that. He saw how a lot of people financially were out of money now. That's something he's really looking at. He doesn't want that to happen."
As a junior, Parker was named the ESPNChicago.com Player of the Year, Illinois' Mr. Basketball and the national Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 19.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.3 blocks and 1.4 steals per contest.

Think UF is clearly behind Michigan State, Duke, and probably DePaul. But they've made up a TON of ground lately.

I have no reason to believe this is the case. The factors that keep them in the race (proximity to home, relationship with the coaching staff, relationship with current/future players, familiarity with the program) are all still in place.

According to Reggie Rankin, Parker's Top Five is Stanford, BYU, Duke, Michigan State, and Florida in no order.

Holy crap. Couldn't have been more wrong if I tried...
Full disclosure: My former college roommate is a teacher at Jabari's High School. Doesn't have him in any of his classes this year, but had him in the past.
My ex-roommate believed that DePaul was actually in the lead, based on all of the factors I listed above. He said DePaul was recruiting him the hardest, that he had the closest relationship with their staff (One of DePaul's assistants was a very good friend of Sonny Parker prior to Jabari even being born), DePaul's staff had convinced Jabari that they'd at least be an NCAA Tournament team if he came there, and because Jabari's two closest friends had already committed to play there.
He was obviously wrong. My apologies for spreading clearly bad information.

What he eliminated DePaul? How could he? I thought they were the leader according I some uninformed board members. So far he proves that he has a chance to be called smart be me and really that is the ultimate honor.

tupac, why do you have to be like this? People were just trying to provide information for us. Being wrong doesn't mean they deserve to be called out.

You say that as if this "information" is legitimate.
However I opt to answer your question as follows:
The lesson as always is if you want to be right just agree with me.

lol... typical tupac. The problem is, you don't know if any information is legit until it's not legit. So if someone knows someone close to the situation and they try to inform us, why not give them the benefit of the doubt or at least just go ahead and say "thanks" for trying.
Sometime there is going to be someone with real information that won't share it because we always jump all over them if they are wrong.

Gotta agree with this. Its part of what message boards are for. Anyone who reads something on one without the grain of salt is fooling only them self.
I remember a few recent (yearly) predictions from Tupac that haven't ended up accurate...

Well, it all goes back to the fact that daddy didn't give attention, to the fact that mommy didn't care...

I don't see us landing parker. From what I have watched of him, It doesn't hurt my feeling. Comes off to me as a ball hog and attention junky. I think he will go somewhere where he's clearly the shining star. We already have 2 big recruits for 13. I think he goes elsewhere. Some media outlets are referring to him as the next Lebron, I do not see that at all from the videos I've watched. But I could be wrong, after all, I'm not tupac!

I had no information. It was just a hunch on my part. DePaul just doesn't seem to fit in with the other schools, especially those that seem to be rising as he gets closer to his decision. I still don't think he comes to UF, but anything can happen if we get him on campus.
