Yeah, I am a little off. Seriously, I'm not a bodyweight exercise purist in that i don't argue that bodyweight exercises are superior to weights.
And I must say I've experienced more joint pain doing bodyweight exercises than weight lifting. But I'm fairly stubborn, right now, about furthering my performance goals through bodyweight training alone.

Wish I could do stuff like that. Can't do split squats of any kind because of my left knee. Hurt it again at the dojo Friday night and couldn't do squats, power cleans or dead lifts until yesterday.

Just did some deadlifts at the gym, worked up to 3 plates. Felt pretty good about myself then the guy next to me used that is his warm up before working up to around 500 pounds.

Too true. I am not really competing against him in any real sense. Plus he definitely has a lot of weight on me. I still want a bigger deadlift but my goal is not to do what the guy next to me did, its to reach a standard that I set for myself. Current goal is 2x bodyweight which is just over 350, I should hit that soon. If I get that, I will start working towards 4 plates.

Just wait until you get to be as old as I am. Provided you're still training, watch your cohort drop like flies around you. Feel the power.

Can't imagine ever doing 350 on my dead lift. Going to try to work my squat max up to 250 by year's end, bench to 300. The dead lift is my boogie man.

I go through stretches where different lifts are my favorite and right now its the deadlift. My upper body is much stronger than my lower body simply because I neglected it for so long. My bench and squat are about the same around 250-260 but my bench has been basically stuck there for a while now and squat has been making some decent progress. I would like to get my bench up to 275 but I dont think I will get there before the end of the year. My squat could be there though which would be nice. Feels funny benching as much or more than I squat without any leg injuries to blame it on.

Deteriorating meniscus and possibly some arthritis. I get about two thirds of the way down on my squats and it starts to hurt.

Have you tried squatting and lunging variations that maintain a vertical shin ?

No but that sounds like an excellent idea. I like doing lunges. It's probably the best exercise for Aikido. Most of the techniques we do utilize some time of lung movement.

And it doesn't have to be the dynamic version. Just do a stationary lunge, also called a split squat. Add dumbbells when it becomes easy.

Pulled 335 today. First one was ugly so I dropped it and reset then got the second one clean. My gym has those hex weights with the flat sides and it really messes me up on deadlifts. Considering changing gyms just because of it.

Deadlift is weird for me. I back squat 305, but deadlift around 325. I feel like my deadlift should be bigger.
I definitely bail quick if I feel like my back isn't staying neutral. I might bail a little too quickly at times, but I have this horrible vision of my spine shooting out of my ass that keeps me a bit gun shy.

I don't know if your dead should be bigger or not. I'm shooting for 2x bw which for me right now would be 360. My squat on the other hand is pretty bad by comparison its only around 255 and definitely the least developed of my lifts. I'm getting better but just want more progress.
Btw I don't use any gear on my lifts but i did just start using chalk on deadlifts and its made a huge difference for my grip. I don't worry about that at all anymore where as before my grip would always give out early.

Threw in some goblet squats (wearing weight vest) and dumbbell RDL's.
I'd forgotten what it was like having sore quads and hammies.
