Default Five Questions: Florida's Kenny Boynton

Here is the article opening of the article and the first question:

Quote:
Editor's Note: In the buildup to Midnight Madness, we are taking an in-depth look at Joe Lunardi's top-five seeds in a series called Countdown To Madness. In addition to the Insider pieces, Eamonn Brennan will offer Three Big Things about each team and we'll have Five Questions with a player or coach from each squad.

Brad Beal’s pitstop at Florida lasted less than a year before the guard decided to enter the NBA draft, where he was the third overall selection last summer. Erving Walker is gone too, after three seasons of manning the point in Gainesville.

Still, anyone who believes Florida’s backcourt will take a dip because of the departures needs to consult with Kenny Boynton.

“Actually, I think we’ll be just as good as last year,” Boynton said. “We’ve still got a lot of guys who can play.”

None better than Boynton.

After averaging a team-high 15.9 points for UF’s Elite Eight squad as a junior, Boynton is hopeful his senior season is his best. The shooting guard chatted with ESPN.com last week about the upcoming season, as well as the Gators’ new-look backcourt.

What encourages you the most about this season’s squad?

Kenny Boynton: The best thing I can say about this team, compared to previous teams, is that we’re 16 deep. One through 16, we can all play, we all work hard. Whenever I come into the gym late at night to shoot or whatever, there’s always someone else in there. We have a huge upside if we can gel and put everything together.

I like what he said about Braxton....and the comments about playing for Donovan. Great to see basketball articles coming out!

Why is a post like this inevitably found in every basketball article on the net? So sad.

What a f'ing moron. If you say any other team is tougher than UK in the SEC you just lost all credibility. I bet by the end of the year he will say guarding somebody at UK will be the toughest. REAL TALK!

OK, now, my math pretty much ended with the Calculus (a few things beyond that), but how does he count 16?

I count 14 scholarship type players (one of whom, apparently is a walk on), but 2 of those can't play next year, so that makes 12. Is he counting the 2 transfers plus 2 walk-ons?

Other than that, I agree, good answers.

There is, however, like last year, a shortage of quality depth in the front court, unless either Larson steps up or Boynton is counting a couple of 6'9" walk-ons as contributors.

I think it is very hard to get good, quality depth in the post like we had during our national title runs. Larson was solid last year defensively and Prather proved he could play limited minutes at the four. The rotation of Young, Murphy, and Yeguete is good as a base. We aren't as deep as will be next season with Harris and Walker plus Finney-Smith, who can play some four in our system, but we should be better than last season if only because we are more experienced. Young and Murphy have a year of experience behind them and Larson got his first taste a year ago. I like the composition, though I wish we had one guy in the mix who could protect the rim.

When he talks about 16 that can play I think he counts everybody, being able to practice with 16 guys that can all play at SEC level is a huge advantage that we have not had ia long time

I am sure Boynton is being a good teammate and excellent leader by including everyone on the squad. They all work hard and it speak well of him and team chemistry that he does not see or at least does not speak of any "class" divisions. By class divisions I mean, recruited to UF or not, eligible to play this year or not, scholarship player or not.

Boynton is being a real leader by saying the entire squad can play. Positive leadership like this can really help a team.
