Default Rice star Arsalan Kazemi to transfer; has six schools in mind

Yes another kid gets his release and say he is considering transferring to UF. I am not sure where UF would get the scholarship from if he needs one. Here is an excerpt:

Quote:
Rice star Arsalan Kazemi told CBSSports.com he is leaving the Owls and has a wish list of six schools.

Kazemi, a native of Iran who averaged 12.1 points and 10.3 rebounds last season, told CBSSports.com that he received his release Monday and has requested it be sent to the following six schools: Kentucky, Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, Florida and Cincinnati.
And here is the link to the whole item:

BTW, he is a 6'7" interior player. He actually averaged a slightly better double-double as a Soph. This is such weird time to transfer, one has to wonder what it is up with this guy?

He only has one year left right? Is this a guy who graduated and is elligible next year? Maybe looking for more exposure?

While I love talented players having interest in us do we really need this kid for one year and like you said not sure where the scholly comes from anyhow.

I doubt it. I wondered if Rice was a quarter school so I checked last night. They are not. They started in August.

The only possible explanation I can find for this decision now requires me to speculate about things negative to this person. Since I have nothing but logic to suggest this, I will pass on any such speculation and just say this is a real puzzle.

I am not sure where he can transfer too now and get enrolled for this semester to be eligible for the 2013-14 season.

Maybe its just a ploy to get more interest in him from colleges, like self promotion. I have no clue its just a guess cause we can't be interested in half the kids that list us.

Apparently Oregon is the sole option, but he'd have to start next week.

In the many realms of the universe, oddities are rare, but occur.

This is one example of an odd oddity.

And yes, one has to question why a player would leave with only one year of eligibility remaining, as well as questioning the coach who would take such a player. Unless you desperately need a rebounder, for most coaches, other than Cali, of course, a one-year player is of questionable value.

Yeah a lot of west coast schools are still quarter schools. However keep in mind that most school have some late enrollment cut off. So he might be able to get in a semester school, if he acts quickly.
