Default Caution: Malware may knock thousands offline Monday, July 9th

I posted this in the Pub, then realized maybe it should go in this forum. Has anyone heard about this "DNSChanger" malware? Better check your computer before Monday.

Thanks for posting this. It looks like this could be a big pain but it might turn out to be nothing. I have seen some fairly painful phishing type virus attacks at a few places in the past week or so. I don’t have any idea whether there is any relationship with these and the DNSChanger malware.

Click here to have a quick check of your computer, as mentioned in the article linked.

Got me twice. My computer tech had to clean my entire hard drive. Basically start over. It says you are inlfected and to clean you need to buy their software which is the infection. It will not allow you to access anything else. The first thing it does is shut down your protective software. In my case it was Macafee.

That's actually a different type of infection, and there are ways to kill those. My dad got something similar to yours on his laptop, but I managed to get rid of it with RKill, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Malwarebytes.

security hole,

macromedia: (writes microsims engining software, well written.. mathmatical forms of computer simulation.. (heart of computer programming)

owns adobe spline tech

-when people adjusted to government searches, privacy tech, everybody ran in on the security wholes written by microsoft when it replaced java
(all of this media software was copy righted -without security holes- and sold very cheaply around 1997

i guess microsoft doesn't consider it or their responsibility for the security whole)

i'm also guessing, when they ran bill gates out, the company started running/acting like the children who ran him out

That's a good combo. Will clean up quite a bit. I've run into some techs who want to do a reinstall rather than take the time to do a bit of research. Not saying that was the case with the FANEVER but it does happen.

Why are you using IE in the first place? You need to switch over to Firefox and you'll get less pop-ups and it's a bit faster. Anyone using Firefox will tell you that it's better than IE.

A reinstall is unnecessary 99.99999% of the time. It sort of became the solution du juor in the last decade for Windows issues, though.
