I've been there 3 times. Once as a 11 yr old playing on a 12u team, once as a 12 yr old in 12u again and then a few years ago as a coach.
It's a blast! Nothing but baseball for a whole week? Can't get much better than that.
I'm sure your son will enjoy it. Just make sure he stays rested and hydrated. It gets tough near the end of the week after played at least 2 games a day for 4+ days.

My main concerned is our pitching, we have 4 really good pitchers, then after that maybe a couple of decent pitchers, then it kind of falls off of a cliff.

If you have 4 really good pitchers you're gonna be better off than 90% of the teams there. I have been twice and there is a huge range of talent among the teams. You will certainly see teams you can beat without using a quality pitcher.

No doubt the range of talent is huge.. When I went in 2010 we finished in the top 32 out of 104 that week. We faced a couple teams that were well below average and we also ran into "team mizuno" which had kids from all over the country (they ended up winning the whole thing for that week). It's really all about the draw you get for pool play.

The teams we pulled from the draw, two are all start rec teams, maybe three. Southborough Storm from Mass is our first game, then we play Utah Balck Sox, then the Tampa Tide, I haven't seen anywhere that any of these teams play travel ball. Then we go on to play So Cal Mudcats, (which I can't find where they play travel ball either), then we play Sole Sabres from North Carolina (never heard of them either) then lastly we play one of the weaker East Cobb teams in the Diamondbacks. We got a GREAT draw if you ask me. I remember Team Mizuno, they were amazing, Team Florida is like that this season. We have a team here in SC called "Crush" and they were put together as a showcase team, they have gone something like 26-2....it's crazy. I would love for us to be a top 12 seed so that we don't have to play 4 in one day like the lower seeds have to. If any of you guys want to watch the games on their live feeds, we have 4 that will be on. Sunday's game against Utah will be on at 7pm on field 10, Monday's 11 am game against the Tampa Tide will be "field 6," Tuesday 8:30 am game against Sole Sabres, NC will be on field 7 then the last game against East Cobb Diamondbacks will be on "field 4."
From what I can tell for the live feeds is that we will be the "home" team the first two games then the visitor for the last two games. I don't know which color the home team wears, if it's the blue or red.

Also the home team wears red, so our first two games that will be webcast we will be in red then blue for the last two. The website is Cooperstowndreamspark, you have to register to watch it but they don't send any emails or anything, they leave you alone.

My kid didn't pitch the first game, we were playing a pretty bad baseball team, we won 23-8. We play again tonight against another pretty bad team.

Will did pitch the second game, we won 6-0. He went 5 innings and gave up four hits, he had two pickoffs, had 1k and 4 walks. He was off tonight but he still had the shutout, maybe he will be on the next game.

Alan got to go up to Cooperstown as a 16 yr old representing the Dixie Boys National Team. Their games were played on DoubleDay Field as well as some other locations such as college fields and one milb park. Quite the experience for that group of young men. Also taking in the Hall is an absolute must---there's so much history to see. Don't miss it, probably your team will be set up to go there as a group---make sure you tag along.

We are actually going tomorrow at 4pm after our last two games. Will is having a blast. We are 4-0 with two more games left in pool play. We beat the team from Tampa this morning and then beat a Cali team this afternoon.

We went 6-0 in the pool play, we won our first bracket game against Tallahassee Heat, we are playing Team TPX, yet another Florida team today....we are in the sweet sixteen now. If we win this morning then we have to play the #1 seed from California, they have run ruled everyone so far.....

They ended up doing very very well. We ended up 7-1 overall 1-1 in bracket play, we were tied with TPX 2-2 going into the sixth inning and one of their kids hit a 3 run homer. Game ended up 5-2....not bad considering we were the last 3a team standing, we beat three majors teams. A very good trip.
