Ok, guys, as I have mentioned in another post my oldest son has my younger son on a workout regimen for the Summer and we are mixing in working with the Jump Manual program.

What I would like to know is if there is anything else that we can do to help him improve his speed.

Thanks.

long distance running? short? HIIT is supposed to be pretty solid for short distance training (haven't done it myself but heard good things). - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-in...erval_training

I've always heard that you want to do exercises that require quick energy exchanges in your tendons and ligaments to help increase speed.

Stuff like jumping on and off a raised platform (6-18" above the ground) as many times as possible in 30-second intervals.

That's good but also try adding resistance to your jumps and explosion exercises.

Like sled sprints or jump squats. On the jump squats i usually go with 135 to 155 lbs on the bar. There also parachute sprints.

But yeah, squats will for sure help you out. Speaking of which, i'll be doing aplenty of them tonight. Did hamstrings/calves this morning and tonight it's quads and glutes.

Basically a lot of exercises in this video will help with your speed.

Chains, bands, sleds, and ect. Hill sprints are another thing most runningbacks do.
