OK seriously, I think its best to set a concrete goal and timeframe. Then make yourself accountable to that goal and timeframe either by telling your friends and family or simply putting it on here and tracking your progress. Make the goal and timing attainable and create a plan that will get you there. Nothing vague and nothing impossible.
Another good idea might be a friendly contest with coworkers, I assume you have coworkers that are in similar situations. I work in IT and think the unhealthy people in my job out number the healthy ones 3 to 1.
