When your roommate borrows your machine to do his 3d/graphics rendering rather than his brand new iMac, you know something is up. Especially when the Mac is supposed to be the be-all end-all for manipulation of that kind.

I buy a computer to do work not for an "experience".

If you're going to boot Windows on it...why not just get a PC in the first place?
Damn, I set up a computer that matches mine on that site and it's priced at 4700. ZOINKS! If you're that into computing, invest some extra time into learning how to build one. It really is plug and go. If you follow directions and have more or less mastered being able to plug in items to sockets then you'll do fine.

No doubt, Gibby...they are expensive! Prior to the Alienware one I have now, I built my 4 prior machines. They worked ok...but had some hiccups along the way. If the components don't play well together you kinda just limp along.

If he borrows your PC for 3D rendering and graphics, either he has an old Mac or old software, so it doesn't REALLY mean crap.

Windows as an OS, whatever flavor MicroSloth has sold you, is a joke. If user experience means so little, you must drive an old car with no A/C, no power steering, and disc brakes to get off.

MS can't even program their security updates correctly...

If you sit here and tell me you've never had a minute down due to a virus, then you have spent some major money on anti-virus software over the years that you have to keep up to date.

I've never had to install that ****.

Stomp your feet all you want...Macs still account for less than 10% of the US market share. And less than 5% worldwide.

The reason you have so few security flaws exploited and viruses written for Macs is because COMPARATIVELY NOBODY USES THEM!!!!!!

Happy for ya V!! I switched to Mac when they started using Intel processors, and have never regretted it.
Taking the class is an excellent idea, once you've learned some of the short cuts you'll even be happier that you bought it.

I've never understood why people get so fired up backing their computers (or phones, cars, any big purchase). If you're happy and it meets or exceeds your needs for a price you can afford, great.

I owned a Mac for the past year or so, just recently sold it. I liked it ok, but really I just wanted to see what all of the fuss as about. When the new wore off, I realized I could meet my needs for a lower price, so I went back to a PC. I had no major problems with my Mac just as I've had no major problems with PCs over the years. Both have served my needs well.

To each his or her own. If you're happy Vanders, more power to ya.

Like you Brave, I have owned PCs (for 20 years) ~ all brands in my home and at school. I sorta wanted to check the unknown territory~ learning is a hobby for me to, so taking classes will let the teacher be on the learning curve.

I would never argue which one is better for I loved all of the computers and the knowledge gained each step of the way. I have enjoying the challenge of new and learning~
I dont' spend a lot of money on myself usually~ the past 10 years have been nothing but get the kids through college/med school and nursing school and helping them get on their feet and getting started as adults. So this is my "ME" gift and I'm loving it!

Point in case. I have had a built-in iSight camera for video chats for over 5 years. No more overseas phone bills for hundreds of dollars (even when on country specific plans) when talking to my friends in other countries. Fully integrated with the software by the manufacturer, not some retarded third party joke that looks retarded hanging off of a cheap monitor made in China. No kinks as long as the internet connection is good.

Windows OS is junk. Windows 7 still having the black screen of death after 20 some years of development. WTF?

No software/hardware integration issues. If you are looking to protect your IT career, then go Windows, because there is nothing that a non-IT guy like myself can't do with the Mac including setting up a distributed wireless network from three different nodes with remote printers around my home. No special knowledge required.

No cheap or poorly integrated 3rd party components breaking or failing.

Everything on my desktop in the monitor enclosure since 1995. Right where I use it.

No downtime. Ever. Since the advent of Mac OS X.

I hate to admit it, but going Intel proved to be a godsend to the platform. At least the Windows retards can't complain about the hardware. Plus, I can boot into Windows to play any games or software that I feel I am missing. (Which is 1 game I play infrequently).

btw - I have a wife that thankfully realizes that diamonds are one of the most common forms of carbon in the universe, no matter what the De Beers cartel says. They can even be made these days, so what's the point?
I dont understand a word you just said. LOL
