I've never heard of this. There were a lot of older kids in my neighborhood and they were usually passed the stage of games like this when I was just getting into them.
Did anyone else have BB gun wars? No more than 3 pumps of the gun allowed. If you were suspected to be in violation of this you were lined up against a makeshift firing squad while the other kids tried to guess how many pumps you went over. When they came to their conclusion all would pump their guns to the guessed amount and fire away. The guilty party would have his back turned of course so he wouldn't get his eye shot out. Safety first. I was placed against the firing squad one time, falsley accused I might add, but I had a BB pistol hidden in my waist band and shot my way out of there. Needless to say I picked up video games for a little while after that.
When we weren't playing that it was usually manhunt or dirt bomb wars. There again if you were caught throwing a dirt clod that was mostly rock you faced another firing squad of dirt clods made of mostly rock being hurled at you by the other participants.
If kids today were caught playing this way they would be charged with something or thrown in juvee. Most of those bastards ended up there anyway!
