Default Avoiding Counterfeit Tickets - Use the Validation Window

Quote:
The SEC and the Georgia Dome will be offering a "Ticket Validation Window" at the main box office of the Georgia Dome beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5. The authenticity of the ticket can be confirmed by a box office representative on site.
Obviously this doesn't help you if you already purchased a ticket and it turns out to be a fake. Finding a way to get it validated before buying, however, would be ideal.

The problem, as I recall, is the scalpers aren't selling near the windows.

Amazingly, I saw a couple get scammed by a scalper and returned their tickets for a refund after checking there. I wouldn't bank on that being standard operating procedure, though.

Scalpers aren't allowed to operate near the dome, so they will not likely walk to the dome to validate their tickets, unless they are desperate for sales.

If a scalper knows he's selling a fake ticket, then he's not going to walk over with you to the ticket window to validate it. So that should be a clue not to buy it.

I'm no scalper, but I have talked to some before. Most those guys outside the dome are trying to run legits shifts...they work the Falcons, Hawks, Braves, etc along with the other events in town and are not willing to sacrifice tehir reputation with people AND law enforcement to sell you counterfeits on purpose.

Usually if they find out someone who is not a regular is selling counterfeits they find a cop and tell on them.

I just hate to see any fan - be they Gators, Tide, or other, shell out several hundred bucks and then not be able to see the game. Perhaps the GA legislature can create a special penalty for counterfeit sellers, like sitting bare-assed on a fire ant mound!!
