I wouldn't presume to know such things, but I do understand why you would get the impression that I would assume you were in denial. Perhaps, from your perspective, you don't see our way of life as lost yet. That's entirely possible, depending upon your worldview and your personal situation. In that case, since the loss has yet to occur for you, then I think it'd be unfair to say you're in denial.
And don't worry, I'm terribly happy with this college football season. It actually has brought me great joy...many other things bring me joy as well. But when it comes to really looking with a discerning eye at the world around me, I'm one of those whose automatic mindset is not optimism. I withhold judgment and try to see things for what they are. And the way things look right now, to me, isn't very good at all. (But I do appreciate the attempts at cheering me up.)
Of course, that's not to say that nothing can be done or that society is incapable of moving forward and creating a better system. But I'm a young'un who is coming to grips with reality, as opposed to the stories we were told growing up (by our families, our communities, our leaders, the media, the elite, everyone). I could see how the Kubler-Ross model may not apply to someone older whose worldview has already been largely shaped in a more permanent way.
I'm looking forward to finishing the progression and then finding productive ways to create a new system to fill the void that will exist when the current system no longer exists.
