Whatever the extent of LBJ's participation in the conspiracy (and never forget that the the death of JFK kept LBJ out of prison, and that the late CIA rogue E. Howard Hunt fingered LBJ and other CIA agents in a deathbed confession), he had the immediate power as president to manage the cover-up. Everything from hand-picking the Warren Commision (including Allen Dulles, the Bay of Pigs CIA director whom JFK fired), telling the Dallas PD chief that night "you've got your man" (i.e., stop any and all investigating), destroying evidence (sending the limo crime scene off to be refurbished, having Connally's suit cleaned before turning it over as evidence), etc. And his cooperation could certainly be counted upon, given that a fingerprint found in Oswald's "sniper's nest" has been identified as belonging to personal LBJ henchman Malcolm Wallace.
