Default One thing

While Harvin was in UF, he was a WR that alot of times lined up as RB. Does anyone notice that we have RB's lining up at RB's and no WR's in the RB position?

Not to say that our RB's aren't capable and proven, just pointing out that Addazio should out to give say, Thompson, a shot in the Percy/Hybrid position.

With Debose coming back healthy next year, anyone else think we might see this more?

I see no player in the Harvin position. But I'd like to see a set with Brantley at QB and Tebow as back or split out. This would give the defense a crap. . . if not a Gator TD.

You'll see a player in the Harvin position next year named Debose.

There's only 1 Percy Harvin.

Harvin at RB: strong, quick burst, and threat to score at any time.

Demps at RB: although he is no Harvin (nobody is), he is also strong, quick burst, and threat to score at any time. No need to put a reciever here to take away Demps' carries.

I do miss the occasional Wildcat.

All due respect to the original poster and Harvin but this is not the 2008 football team, it is the 2009 football team. We are who we are. You can't just put someone into that position and tell them to do what he did....just doesn't work that way. Meyer knows this as well. Was looking forward to seeing Haden in the "wild-cat" formation but there must be a reason we are not running that also.

Percy was a rare talent who didnt need reps at both positions to excel at both positions. I honestly doubt we will see another one like that for a while. Think about what Minnesota did to Percy when they drafted him, handed him the playbook and asked him to learn three receiver spots and running back as well as Wildcat packages and special teams. There isn't another rookie in the country who could have been handed so much.

I have big hopes for Debose next year but I don't expect him to remind me of Percy when he gets on the field. I think our RBs are more than capable of handling the rushing duties without needing a receiver to line up back there.

More than missing a receiver in the backfield I miss the runs from the receiver position. No more jet sweep or reverses. Where did those go? Maybe this years group of wideouts is just more traditional in nature.

I'd like to see Omarius Hines line up in the backfield. I bet he'd be a decent pass blocker or inside runner. His body strength and build reminds me of a young Anquan Boldin.

Rainey's TDs yesterday reminded me a lot of Percy, particularly the one where he made one move to get through the line and another to make the safety completely whiff, both at FULL SPEED. It looked just like how Percy runs.

Actually, this year, Brandon James has taken on the Harvin RB/WR dual role. Admittedly, he has only rushed 19 times for 103 yards (5.3 ypc), and only caught 20 passes for 196 yards (9.6 ypr), which are far cries from Harvin's 70 rushes (9.4 ypc) and 40 receptions (16.1 ypr) of last year.

But, whereas last year, Harvin was the #2 RB (behind Tebow) and the #1 WR, James is the #6 RB and the #3 WR behind Hernandez & Cooper

For next year, although Debose is a possibility, I think that Urban Meyer is recruiting Lemarcus Joyner for the Role, although he is anything but a sure thing, with Ohio State and even lowly FSU strongly in the running for his services.

Absolutely. Frankie Hammond Jr. will get some reps from the backfield too, as he has RB abilities as well.

Demps has gotten some direct snaps from the wild cat before and should again. The issue is I don't think he can throw it.

Brandon may be getting some Percy-type calls, but respectfully, he is Brandon, not Percy.
