i read quite a bit of UK news and that island is utteringly Farking whacked, to use the parlance of the day.

from top to bottom...i wouldnt reside there for any reason...its like they saw the bar for a govt nanny state and aimed for the moon...

It sounds like decorated means something more akin to renovated across the pond. Even the mother said she wouldn't bring a baby home to a home being decorated.

Ex-soldier faces jail for handing in gun

A former soldier who handed a discarded shotgun in to police faces at least five years imprisonment for "doing his duty".

Paul Clarke, 27, was found guilty of possessing a firearm at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday – after finding the gun and handing it personally to police officers on March 20 this year.

The jury took 20 minutes to make its conviction, and Mr Clarke now faces a minimum of five year's imprisonment for handing in the weapon.

Am I the only one that thinks that all of these have probably happened a dozen times over in many different countries?

A girl in a small town near where I lived accused a boy of threatening to kill her and shoot up their high school (in what turned out to be retaliation for his rejecting her asking him out), and the kid was harassed by cops and his teachers until he finally just left the school and went to my high school 30 miles away. Her complaints were given credence because her grandfather was the mayor of that town.

Sure this crap is weird and creepy, but these stories or their kind are pretty much common place.

And they're also normally not near as crazy or severe as original news stories lead you to believe. All that sensationalism instead of journalism and what have you.

I'm beginning to change my mind about the Revolutionary War. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all. Miserable a country as we've become, being seaparated from England affords us the opportunity to point to a country which is even worse than we are.
