Most Important Remaining Uncommitted
OK, first, falsely assuming that none of the committed will decommit (what an absurd thing to say, almost every year, at least one decommits, and sometimes, there are a lot, like last year, when Reid, Teague, Richardson and Kasa all decommitted toward the end of the process). Anyway, after having make that absurd assumption, I order the importance of the remaining uncommitted and desired as followings.
Before critiquing this order, you must realize that after 40 some years of observing football competition at all levels (from 10 year olds to the Pros), I have come to clearly realize that the OLine and DLine are far and away the most important places to have quality. Quality offensive backs get nowhere without a quality OLine in front of them, and Quality defensive backs and LBs spend all of their time tacking escaped runners rather than guarding WRs if the defensive line fails.
Second, you win Championships with Defense, not with Offense, so I have a clear preference for defensive players, and, over the past two years, the Gators have been very thin in recruiting defensive players, with a total of only 14 in the 2008 and 2009 classes. Good defense also requires a good kicking game, and next year, the Gator punter will be a senior, and PK, a junior.
1 - Powell, or OO, or Stripling or Marks, etc... or two of these (preferred).
2 - Green, or Linder, or Henderson, or two of these (preferred).
3 - Shariff, or another DT
4 - Luc or Hicks or both, or someone else at LB
5 - Joyner, Shaw, Riggs, Jefferson Riley, or any two of these
6 - Dunkley, Stills, or one of the others, perhaps two of these
7 - Hagerup - it is really useful to have your punter spend a year on the team before he is forced to punt in competition.
Now, realizing that there are 17 committed, and a probable max of 26, that leaves 9 remaining slots (perhaps 10 for a +1). So, probably only 2, or perhaps 3 of the positions mentioned allow for 2 additional commits. Of course, we must assume at least 1 and probably 2 decommits before signing day, so that would allow 3 or 4 with 2 (also, depending, of course, where the decommits occur).
