Default For those of you with Netflix and a PS3

Good news - Netflix can now stream movies to your PS3. If you log into Netflix, you should be able to order a disc that will let you stream content straight to your PS3. This has been available on the 360 for a while, but now us PS3 folks can get in on the action as well.

Apparently in late 2010 Netflix will be able to stream fully via the PSN without a disc, but for now this should work nicely.

Here's a Q&A

I have this for my XBOX and if PS3 can make it work just as well it will be a great addition to the system. The selection for the on demand stuff is getting better but its still a lot of junk. But it is a great option to have.

Got mine friday and works like a charm. I was using PlayOn but this is much better. Late next year when the deal with Microsoft expires Sony will write it into an update and we can get rid of the disc.

Two reasons come to mind. First is to avoid getting a gift that keeps giving in the form of an embedded virus or other malware. The second is to be honest and pay for the property received.

Usenet doesn't have the malware or virus problems of other P2P. Files generally get vetted if you use a decent indexing service and you never have to worry about em. Plus, I can't exactly pay for something that hasn't been released yet.

So, is using usenet to download new released or unreleased films legal and ethical?

Would you call the recent theft of orangeblueorangeblue’s hardware awesome as well? Where does common theft end and awesome begin?

The point is that much of this downloading is not ethically or legally right. It should not be encouraged here.

Gator Bytes is a place to get technical discussions and to help one another. Helix and others add a great deal here and it is appreciated. Let’s keep that spirit but let’s not encourage things you would not want done to you if you were the owner of the property.

Please don’t away, mad or otherwise. It was not clear as to how much of a joke you were making.

I apologize if my stand on this seems a bit harsh. I have tried to keep it light hearted but it’s not a good idea for illegal activities to be encouraged here.
