Here's a thought or two for dreamliner, guy, etc-

Prophesy. Seems like when it comes true 100% of the time, it tends to be convincing.

Also, archealogy issues, like finding King David's name inscribed, the guarded and secured mountain in Saudi Arabia (Jabbel el Alezz - sic for sure) re: Moses , etc

FYI- I used to laugh it off too, put it aside, until I invested some time and started reading it just to read it.

Not true.

First, the text does not say/mean that.

Second, you have to take the bigger picture into account when making a theological conclusion, especially one as big as that. You need to ask: does anywhere else teach that God is the one and only God? That is taught elsewhere, so a misunderstanding of this text is then precluded.

(BTW, people make gods out of every thing, but the fact that they worship money, fame, or even Baal does not make those gods real or powerful in any way. Though they serve other gods, they don't REALLY exist as gods.)

As for your actual point: that rules out the possibility of God preserving truth. I would not be so bold as to assume that man is so powerful as to alter and affect the purposes of God. If we can admit there is a God, and that this God communicated to us, why would we dismiss his ability to preserve that truth??

I think that's what he's saying. If man says it, it can't be true. So how can his objection be true ?

Dreams' on our side. You just have to read between the lines. He makes his point in a unique way that is loved by all who agree with him. If you don't......he has a way of getting under your skin. It's a gift.

Dream doesn't get under my skin at all. I appreciate his wit. You're lucky he's a fundamentalist, literalist, bible thumper. It must be good to have him on your side.

Dream, I'll give you and Lacuna a lot of credit for making me think differently about faith issues - or maybe more specifically the inherent prejudice I tend to carry toward those who proclaim faith. You both have my respect.

As far as all the prophecy and certainty are concerned, we've been over it. It's certainly an inviting chunk of evidence for those who desperately want an invitation. Some may even go as far as to say the prophecies are compelling. Not me, though. Not a lot of archaeologists, scientists, or theologians, either. (Someone please point out my faith and worship to the aforementioned lot. I will be disappointed otherwise.)
