Wonder how many Northerners would assume that speakers of Shakespearian English would sound like retards prior to hearing them speak ? Yet, there we have some semblance of it on youtube.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

My brother's inlaws are from Key West, complete with Conch accent.

Nawallins has a great accent, too.

I'm thinkin my ancestors sounded something like a cross between Walter Brennan and Slim Pickens. Ancestors are from West Virginia and we are direct decendents of Devil Anse Hatfield. Can't imagine there are too many branches on the Gator51 family tree.

Related to Moses Parsley are you not? Hatfields and the Parsleys are very closely connected.

I'm not sure I have never really been into the ancestry thing. I know some of my Dads family could tell you the lineage back to Devil Anse Hatfield. My grandmother used to have coppies of newspaper articles including a turn of the century photograph of the remaining Hatfield family taken after the fued died out. I rember reading them years ago, she had circled Devil Anse in the picture. It was pretty neat they were all wearing overalls and toteing shotguns just like you would have imagined.

Interesting I looked up Devil Anse Hatfield on wikipedia and at the top of the article is the very picture my grandmother had. I imagine it is probably the only photo of the Hatfields so I guess anybody who has a picture would have that one.
