Question Alabama Coach Saban sucking up to the Refs?

I think Saban is trying to lobby the refs. He knows UM got fined. I think he is prepping the refs for the SECCG.

Saban is a sly fox. Here is what he said.......

"I just really do believe this: If I was an official, and I was making what I make officiating, because I love the game and I love doing it, and I was getting crit*icized by the media, includ*ing our announcers on TV, like these guys get crit*icized, I'd step back and say, 'I think I'll go to the lake this weekend. You can have this.' That's what I'd do," Saban added.

"Those guys, they do a great job. They work their tail off and try to do a good job. We have a guy jump offside and he doesn't get criticized like that. Both of them are mistakes, one way or the other. Right?

"I mean, can somebody stand up and fight for these guys and what they do for the game? And probably get (paid) less for it than any*body."

Sure sounds like it to me. Wonder what his take would be if the Int. call had been reversed?

I have more problems with the replay refs than the on field guys. That interception by LSU was understandably missed by the on field guys. From what I understand the replay guys are ones who aren't mobile enough to be on the field anymore. It is inexcusable for them to miss a call. And yes, they missed Doe's fumble. As far as the celebration thing goes, I'm glad they backed off of that some.

As a Dolphins fan you could have left the last 3 words off of this thread title. The first two nail it..

I started a thread almost identical to this back nearly two weeks ago. And whaddya know--St. Nicky has had his share of "no-calls" or calls go his way ever since.
He started laying the groundwork back then...and it continues still. This dude is slick.

I think he is both bright and a threat.

Thumbs down

Has there ever been a more obvious motive on the part of a coach?

Obvioulsly he's hoping, and will now no doubt get, favorable rulings from the SEC officials in the Championship Game in Atlanta! Will it be as obvious and bad as that ACC Jack Childress crew in the UF - FSU game in The Swamp in 2003? Afraid so!

Wont matter. Nick Saban will have accepted two other job offers by then....after saying he wont take them of course....
