Default An adjustment needed

One stat often overlooked is number of sacks YTD and yds lost.
Let's take a look at how we do compared to Bama

UF has given up 22 sacks for 119 yds YTD
Bama has given up 9 sacks for 45 yds YTD

Why is this important?

1)Tebow as Percy Harvin commented from the sideline has taken too many hits-remember
the concussion.
2)It kills drives and frustrates us often near and in the red zone.

Suggestions-keep Fullback and Moody or Demps in the backfield to pick up blitzes. Start throwing more screen passes and running draw plays. Move Rainey into Harvin's
old position and throw to him making the opponent defend the whole field.

overlooked??? It's the topic of 3 out of every 4 threads. It is the dead horse that is beaten.

Beaten or not on insiders boards and here-it was glaringly revealed by UT and everyone
else since. We need to fix it now!

I know there was some talk about putting Xavier Nixon in as left tackle to improve pass protection and move Johnson to left guard. Did this ever happen? Because I'd imagine that could help reduce the number of sacks.

If it could be fixed it would have been fixed long before now. I think this is the offense we have with these coaches and these players. It certainly isn't the offense we were expecting but if we avoid turnovers and penalties that kill drives I think we can win a NC with it and our great D.

The sacks are up for one main reason, we're passing the ball more.

No doubt about it, we need to keep an extra blocking back in the backfield with Tebow to give him another 1 - 1/12 seconds to find a reciever, especially to proetct his blindside.

I'd prefer we actually use more "I" formation than just hearing the coaches say we will, and Tebow getting rid of the ball earlier and quicker instead of hanging onto it for 4 - 5 seconds, which is usually when he's sacked.

Good thing is that since the Miss. St. game, Tim isn't forcing the ball and getting TO's.

I liked how Brantley got rid of the ball quickly and when Tim did, he usually made the completion.

Yes, i-formation is what we need. Or go single back with two tight ends. It would work. But i guess thats why i'm not coaching.

By this time of the season we are what we are, how ever frustrating it is we are still #1 and 9-0.

Sacks will eventually be the reason this team won't win a championship....if we don't fix the problem! Everyone has already stated all the reasons Tim gets sacked. The favorites are:
A. The OL can't pass-block,
B. Tim can't make quick decisions,
C. The WRs can't get open
D. All of the above.

Bottom line is we need to fix the problem or Bama's defense will eat us alive!

I was trying to watch the receivers instead of the ball during the game yesterday. I rarely saw them running routes shorter than 8-10 yards. I constantly saw defensive players giving them ten yard cushions. I'm thinking maybe we could cut some of the routes short and pick up some easy yardage?
