Why Luc, Powell, Martin and Floyd should join the Gators!

Im getting tired of reading all the BS in Vol forums about how their staff can develop recruits into NFL players and the gator staff can't. They have NO facts supporting those claims. Eric Berry wasn't even recruited by their staff. We have 3 potential 1st rounders this year developed by this staff (Dunlap, Spikes and Haden).

Here are some good reasons why Jeff Luc should come to UF:

---Since Charlie Strong was hired as the DC of the Gators in 2002 these have been his starting Middle Linebackers (MLB's):

a. Channing Crowder (2002-2004) - Drafted in the 3rd round of the 05' Draft and is currently the starting MLB for the Miami Dolphins.

b. Brandon Siler (2005-2006) - Drafted in the 7th round although he was projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder and is currently playing for the San Diego Chargers. Starting MLB for the 06' National Champion Gators.

c. Brandon Spikes (2007-2009) - Projected as a 1st rounder and as the 1st middle linebacker taken in the draft. Will be a starter wherever he ends up. Starting MLB for the 08' National Champion Gators.

I dont know what else Jeff Luc needs as evidence that the Gator Staff can help him develop into an NFL middle linebacker and a future 1st rounder. Monte Kiffin was a top notch defensive coordinator in the NFL for 160 years but he has not proven that he can take a high school player with raw talent and develop him succesfully in college into an NFL ready player. Monte has proven that he can take NFL ready players and develop them into successful pros. IMO these are two different things.

I'm not bashing Monte. He is a great DC, but VolNation fans cant claim that all players should go to their team because they can develop college players into NFL players and the Gators can't. There is no evidence supporting that claim and it will take at least 2 or 3 years for them to be able to make such a statement, even if unfounded. Kevin Burnett, Jerod Mayo, and Omar Gaither were not developed by the current Vol staff.


Here are some good reasons why Ronald Powell, Chris Martin and Sharrif Floyd should come to UF:

a. Jarvis Moss (DE): 07' 1st Rounder

b. Ray McDonald (DT): 07' 3rd Rounder

c. Marcus Thomas (DT): 07' 4th Rounder

d. Derrick Harvey (DE): 08' 1st Rounder

e. Carlos Dunlap (DE): 10' 1st Rounder

f. Jermaine Cunningham (DE): 10' (3rd or 4th?) Rounder

I could talk about Jeremy Mincey (06') and Bobby McCray (04") but they are from before 2007 and I only want to give FRESH Evidence of NFL potential in recent Gator defensive lines.

Powell, Martin and Floyd, YOU could be the next Gators to go in the 1st Round!!!! Lets make it happen!!!

Monte is a great DC, but he is a scheme guy, not a technique guy. It is the position coaches that will make the difference in how a player develops. I'll take our position guys vs. UT's any time. Monte is the only thing going for UT from a coaching perspective, everyone else is just a recruiter, including Lane. That might work at USC, but in the SEC you can't just bring in the best guys and relax. You have to develop your players to win...

Been alot of talk about Cunningham switch to the 3-4 as a rush OLB. If he goes that route he will be taking in the 1st 2 rounds.
