Another uniform thread...

These are really bad. I would be pissed if that was my favorite team. They look like something out of a movie (Any Given Sunday, The Replacements, etc)

I don't think the designs are all that bad, they just have really crappy school colors.

I agree that they really aren't that bad. Not overly crazy about the logo and I definitely don't like all orange uniforms, but it's really a pretty traditional uniform design. Solid colors with relatively basic numerals with a slight tweak of style, traditional stripes on the pants and helmet, traditional helmets, except for the stripes carrying over to the face mask (which I'm not crazy about), a variation of the same stripes on the sleeve in more of an arc (which I like). The one thing I notice is that they added a gold accent. That clashes a little.
But generally, I think it's a pretty decent design.

Wow. I know we had Queer Eye for the Straight Guy here in the UK, but I had no idea they reached out to Adidas over your way too...

Read my post above. Other than the face mask, exactly what do you consider non-traditional about the design? be specific. It's actually a very traditional uniform design, especially for Nike.

I was actually commenting on the BBall uni's in Limey's post. I didn't click on the link to the football uni's.
Concerning the football uni's , they are not that bad, just the face masks, but overal ok.. better than the fatigue designs.

I gotcha. And I agree. Those basketball uniforms look like children's pajamas or something. There is a HUGE difference in the competency of the Nike designers versus those of Adidas, Under Armor and Russell.

You are so correct. Your observation....I think...is based on personal view and personal opinion simply by 'looking' at the results across the uni/equipment spectrum. I don't know if you can fully appreciate just how accurate you really are though.
I have been at sales meetings....too many to mention....at UA, Nike, Champion, and a segment of adidias. I can tell you first hand that the level at which Nike operates as compared to UA in particular--is vastly different. UA operates(especially during their formative years) under the premise of arrogance and ego--"we WILL be different and we WILL be the most expensive no matter what" when making their push. Nike on the other hand of course has a degree of ego, but it is far better balanced than UA--not even in the same league.
The folks at Nike are seasoned, well versed, and have a very well established track record of knowing exactly what they are doing. UA--was more of a smodge-podge of personnel of washouts from other companies. Every meeting used to have a different design leader to introduce their new spring line or fall line or etc,....almost never the same person twice in a row. Simply put, they were bringing in people to work for them and design their lines who used to work for the other 'big' companies. It was common for a breakout meeting to start out with..."Hi, my name is Joe Blow and I am the Spring 2012 Men's Line Design Leader---I've been with the company now just a little over 4 months and you're about to see what we feel is the hottest and freshest new line in years". Next meeting, 6 months later--same story, just different person who had also only been with the company for 4 months or so. They were bringing in so many people who couldn't make it with the other companies so they found a way in to Baltimore. It was almost a given that every 'team leader' had their previous roots at Nike, Fila, Adidas, Russell, etc....and most of them were only there for a short time before moving on to UA.
My whole point---too many new, young and inexperienced people coming and going there as compared to what Nike had and maintained. The Swoosh folks in Oregon had, and still have their act together and their products show it. They may get carried away at time of course, but it pales in comparison to what the other companies are doing. Adidias and their basketball PJ unis they just released is an attempt to step out and try to make a splash in the same manner UA does it. It shows a sense of desperation in my view. Their new look is not exactly tearing the world up being accepted. Lots of head scratching going on as to what in the world is Adidas thinking with this crap.
Lastly--and as a side note only--Nike people know how to throw a 'party' at sales meetings MUCH better than the other guys can even dream of. Without details, I will say that the other folks...as typical as all sales meetings....have their parties in the evenings. They sort of try to anyway. Nike---doesn't just try. Nike....they just do it. No pun intended here either.

Bane face masks, hysterical.
Funny what teams that are desperate on the recruiting trail will do.

It just looks like a facemask.
As for the color change in the middle, I don't think it's in any way intended to resemble Bane. For a hint, take a look at the Beavers' mascot ...
