Bracket matrix, Palm... no love for UF
Out of 50 "bracketologists" 3 gave the lowest seed for UF at 3, including Palm.
Last year he seeded us lower than average as well. As much as it's easy to pick on Lunardi, I think Palm maybe be getting worse at his craft, not better.

Are you saying based on UF's schedule, RPI and wins, that you think a 3 is correct?
I don't think based on the season today, that 8-11 teams deserve a better seed.

If UF closes at 26-4 (16-2), the Gators will be a 1 seed. Palm is off his game projecting a 3 seed.

Yea he has had a vendetta against Florida for a long time.
I think close to every year we are always seeded lowest in his brackets.

The victim mentality around here is hitting a new high.

Victim?...hardly. This isn't about feeling sorry for UF, It it's only about Palms seeding, for which he has been an outlier of late...nothing more.

I'll take a lower seed. I think it gives us a little chip on our shoulder instead of getting too cocky.

TBH, I'm thinking we get a #2 seed. Fine with me. This is a FF squad, folks, regardless of seeding.

I would rather get a #5 seed with favorable match-ups than a #1 seed. Especially this year. It will all be about the match-ups.

This makes no sense. So then you'd want a 1 seed with more favorable matchups than a 5 seed. So really then, you just want the most favorable matchups. Yet how is that even defined? Nobody knows what upsets will occur either.
The fact of the matter is it is more like to get "favorable" matchups as a 1 than a 2, 2 than a 3, 3 than a 4, and so on. That doesn't mean a 10 seed won't EVER have a more favorable road than a 1, but you are MUCH more likely to have a better path as a 1.
Teams do not get to control the outcomes of other tournament games. They do not get to control what teams are seeded in their bracket. They can control their own games and getting the best seed possible.

In fairness, Palm actually got our seed right last year, as I recall. He was projecting us as a 7 seed, and that's where we ended up. Most had us higher.
Now, we were pretty dramatically under-seeded and showed it, but Palm did get that projection right.

Just because he seeds a single team one lower than some other people does not mean he is getting worse at his craft.
Nobody has been doing this longer than him or with more research into the minds and trends of the committee.
Remember that his job is not to state how he thinks teams should be seeded. He is predicting how the committee will seed teams. Plus, his brackets are based on "if the season ended today". He does not project forward and predict who might win key games down the road.
He had us as a 2-seed before we lost at Arkansas, and he's been very clear that he thinks we will seed below rating because we lack a quality road win. If we beat Missouri or UK on the road, his seeding will change.

does palm seed based on what he expects will happen - forecasting losses/wins thru to selection sunday, or does he seed based on current circumstances? because we're woefully underseeded at a 3-seed based on the metrics like rpi, sagarin, pomeroy.

After watching Michigan State last night, I don't think we matcup well against the spartans. They have a big and deep frontline plus Appling is an excellent guard. They put a whipping on Michigan last night that reminded me of their national championship team that beat us.

A number one seed is probably out of reach unless a lot of other teams collapse entirely, we just don't have any big wins OOC and since the SEC is so bad us dominating doesn't prove anything to the selection committee.

FYI....our RPI is 4.
We have out of conference wins against:
Wisconsin - RPI 31
Middle Tenn St. - RPI 29
Marquette - RPI 16
We have a 4-1 record against teams in the top 25 at the time we played them.
I don't think there is any question at worst we should be a 2 seed. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the committee would match us up with Miami as the 1 seed.
Of course, long season and a lot can change.
