Who's left at DE?
With Daniel having grade problems, the board is getting awfully thin there. Any new names out there? Less heralded recruits that might end up in the class?

A few more Tostitos and I should have the size for DE. Plus I've got all my eligibility left.

That makes sense because Hatcher is from Kentucky... What I don't understand is - Why is Nkemdiche going to officially visit Kentucky... Just seems like out of all of the places he could visit... he picks Kentucky??

Man, two weeks ago Florida's class had more upside than any other class in the country. My how the tide has turned.
Still, it's a wonderful class. Muschamp should get an 'A' if he merely keeps everybody on board.

Our top target at DE didn't make grades. That doesn't mean the tide has turned. We didn't lose anyone. We're stealing commits from other schools. We might come up short on one Buck/DE prospect, but we've got two or three redshirt freshmen getting ready to fight it out just to back up the likely back-up at Buck, plus three DEs committed for the incoming class, five LBs, two or three of which could get a look at Buck. As far as the rest of the class, we've got the best WR class, the best DB class, the second or third best RB class, including transfers, the best OL class. Nobody has filled their needs better than UF. Bama will probably finish stronger, but we've closed the gap. We'll sign more players than they will and we will counter their WRs with better DBs, their running backs with better LBs and their D linemen with better, or at least more OL. I'd be willing to bet that this class, no matter where it's ranked, will turn out better than most any class Meyer ever brought in and long term, will match up evenly with Bama. We might even find another Buck/DE before it's all over.

I wasn't just referring to the DE/Buck position; I was talking in general. What happened to guys like Adams, Alexander and Ramsey? We were just in on a lot of big names, and it now seems that we're almost done. That's okay, though.
Look, I'm all about this class. Before we even got Anzalone I felt that if we didn't sign another player, it was a great class. You could take both Anzalone and Robinson out of the equation, and it would still be an incredible group.
This class is exactly what we need.

This what happens when people project a recruit we only have an outside shot at into the class. Its natural, but leads to what happened on signing day last year. Muschamp didn't lose anyone, because they were never ours to lose. But he sure caught hell here.
Look at the names you listed. One's comitted to another school. We've never been higher than 3rd for another, and one's a package deal we weren't taking. Now that seems to maybe have changed a little, but if Will pulled any of those three, it would be a small miracle.

And it happens every year for every team on every recruiting site. The insider guys pimp a potential commitment based upon something he heard from a player on the team, but every fanbase thinks it is in the lead or has a shot.

I don't necessarily agree that last year was the same thing. We've never really been a player for Adams, Nkemdiche (or however you spell it), Alexander or really even Ramsey. Maybe at one time Alexander and Ramsey flirted with the idea of coming here, but it wasn't quite like last year.
Last year Tracy Howard was ready to become a Gator. I also believe Florida dropped the ball with Stefon Diggs. Those two probably should've been Gators. We lost them. We also had a legitimate shot at Agholor, Harvey-Clemmons (depending on what source you listened to) had legitimate interest in Florida, and Florida went into signing day with realistic shots at landing both Leonard Williams and Avery Young. Rivals predicted we would land at least two of them (Howard and Diggs), some of their analysts predicted Agholor would also become a Gator, and Florida just didn't have a good signing day.
This year we've brought in an amazing haul. My only hope is that one doesn't decommit, and then you get that whole snowball running downhill that we saw in late-January of 2008. I'm impressed with the players Muschamp has brought in. It's amazing. Last year I legitimately felt like Florida could've closed better, despite bringing in pretty good talent defensively; this year I'm very happy with what the staff has done.

We probably don't take another DE/buck prospect with Daniel off the board, though.
That's okay, because we're in pretty good shape with Powell, Fowler, Cox and McCallister returning. It wasn't really a huge need.

Fyi, THEY DO read message boards and can take some negative comments to heart.

As do their parents. I commented about a prospect who was set to attend junior day last year and received an email from his mother the following day. Glad I said something positive.

Well, thank goodness I'm not negative towards recruits. The recruiting process? I don't always like it, but it's entertaining. Well, it is when we're having a great year. When we miss out on a lot of prospects (like two years ago during a transition period) it can be frustrating.
