Nick Washington will wear #22 next year
Per his twitter...
Nick Washington @NickWashingtonn
After a talk with Coach T Rob and Mushamp. An executive decision has been mad and i'll be wearing number 22 next year.. Biggg shoes to fill
Thought this was kind of cool, definitely a nice reward for his constant recruiting for us this year!

haha executive decision, I'm sure a lot of thought went into this.
Muschamp: "Hey Nick, here's a list of numbers available next year, which one do you want?"
Washington: "#22"
Muschamp: "ok"

Do we even have an honor number or a Chucky Mullins Courage award number? To me, #22 is no different than saying I was chosen for Ahmad Black's #35 next year.

I watched Chucky play high school ball. His number 2 is retired at our high school.

That is quite an honor to wear #22 dressed in the O&B. Review some of the previous players wearing that number.

Yeah, but do they withhold it for special players, is what I'm saying.
I think most players seem to fight over #1, but I could be wrong.

Terry Jackson's brother Willie and his father Willie, Sr. as well. Willie Sr. was one of the players who helped integrate the Gator football program. That was a big deal back at the time.
Number 22 is not just another number.

Yep, long history with that family and the number, but we aren't recruiting Willie's kid so I guess that tradition is dead.

Can Willie's kid play? If a member of that family is even remotely good we'd better get him in O&B

I wonder what number Kelvin Taylor will wear.
FWIW, I believe #11 and #55 were the only numbers ever officially retired at UF. Both were then unretired by SOS, with Scott Brantley's permission. #11 was always reserved for players who went through a great deal of adversity to get on the field. Ben Hanks was the first. I can't recall all the others, but I believe the tradition continued at least into the Zook years.
