I know they recruit some big dudes, but it looks like they are much bigger, and stronger than any team they play. Did anybody catch what Barrett jones looked like in High school in the ESPN pregame?

They must have a great strength and conditioning program....and ummm a great student athlete dining hall. That must explain it.

Monster offensive line that gets away with major holding on every play (I've taken to just watching their line after the ball is snapped) and you aren't going to lose often

Barrett Jones looked like a fat!@# to me when they did a feature on him for College Gameday...

Having almost an entire (7) coaching staff of "football analysts" on staff is what's in the water.

Based on reported stats Jones bulked from 271 to 302 (hs weight to current). I'm not sure that there's anything terribly unreasonable about adding 30 pounds on his frame in the span of almost 6 years (from HS measurements to being a redshirt senior).

At that age there really isn't. Jones was from Germantown and I don't recall him being heavily recruited. Bama did a lot with him. It does make me sick to see a kid from Tenn start for them. Puke.

Colin Cowherd, today on his show, talked about Bama's internal PED system and said he had a good source who said there has never been an issue.

I don't know what Cowherd knows but it does seem like if some other team wins - it must be because of cheating.

There's never been an issue in that they don't care if they cheat and they probably get a heads up by the league prior to off-season testing.

Just asking. Every position....monsters (except qb). Arms the size of their opponents legs. Remarkable to recruit a team full of those. So tell me about those 7 "analysts"

That's the difference between a professional approach to college football and what we pretend to be.

Yes, Bama's strength coach is young, animated, lively and gets big results...versus ours..who doesn't.

Dillman has done wonders to this team this year and it shows, just like your posts shows how it should be nominated as the worst of 2013

I can't wait until we can see what he does with a guy after he's had him for 3 years.

Wait a minute. All season long everyone was saying how great our strength coach was, how much better he was than Mariotti, etc. etc. And now all of a sudden he isn't any good?

You can always tell that we've lost a game by coming here and seeing that coaches who were geniuses before the game turned into stupid incompetents during the loss.

Typical post from you. You sure do hate a lot. Opinions are one thing; hating is another.

Not uniformly, no, in large part because it is tremendously expensive. This is a slightly funny instance to bring it up in though, since it looks like Notre Dame may have one of the more lenient PED penalty policies (following a failed test regain eligibility as soon as testing no longer reveals the presence of drugs).

The Notre Dame anecdote (as well as some others) are from this interesting piece ESPN had on steroids in college football earlier this year.

Olympic training can yield a bulkier body type, but that mass conceals much enhanced explosive power. Think about all those Russian stocky grandfather body types clean and jerking 500 lbs in the Olympics.

all humor aside, very astute point. clean jerking 500 lbs...reminds me of the old SNL skit where the arms come off. That said, when is the last time you have heard of any college football player getting busted for PEDs?? Wherever there is competition, someone is going to try and gain a competitive edge. College football has to have the most honest upstanding bunch of players out of any sport.
