Plant's Weiner new USF wr coach
http://www.baynews9.com/content/news...ws_plant_.html
Robert Weiner is leaving Plant High to become the wide receivers coach at the University of South Florida, sources close to the situation confirmed to Bright House Sports Network.
Weiner is attending the AFCA national coaches convention in Nashville and was unavailable for comment. He is expected to meet with his team at 7 p.m. tonight in the school’s field house.
Weiner became the Panthers head coach in 2004 and in nine seasons, he led the program to four state championships and five state championship game appearances. The team currently holds a Hillsborough County-best streak of eight-straight district titles.

Plant never seemed to send kids to us under Weiner. This might be good news for us.

I don't know if we can blame Weiner. He was actually good about bringing his players up to Gainesville. We weren't having good luck with that school before he was there. He ran a great program, but other schools turned out as much, if not better talent and UF was successful recruiting the Tampa area without any Plant grads.

Agreed, Seems like Plant sent players to all of our rivals. Maybe now we can get into that school.

Im also happy about this. All that talent at Plant and they always seemed to avoid UF since hes been there. Things just never seemed to add up...

Can we please get a former UF player in to coach that school? Wiener leaving is almost as good as getting a commit.

Yeah,
Screw Weiner. Been living in Tampa for years, had a daughter at Plant when he won their first state title. Guy did no favors for UF. Period.
It can't go anywhere but up for Gators with his departure.

He was my coach at Jesuit Tampa before he left for Plant. I'm happy for him getting the jump to the college level.

Looks like he had a change of heart and is staying now. Maybe USF can hire the Sandalwood coach instead
